52

Had a nice peaceful day at home for my Birthday.

Mom and Dad brought dinner and Eric got me a red velvet cheesecake with fresh strawberries.  It was lovely.

I found four pairs of pants yesterday.  I hate shopping for clothes for myself so that was a huge feat.  Love Old Navy.  I also found some pants for Kai.  Hard to find.  Have to go around him and he's not slim. Ankles have to cinch. In order to get big enough around the pants are usually too long. Also no buttons, zippers or snaps. We're down four pairs from school, three lost and one had a knee hole that looks cut.  Sigh.  He uses his spare pair at least a couple times a week.  Sometimes the wet/dirty/soiled/spilled on pants don't make it home.

Eric found a bunch of green glass pieces for my collection.  I think he had fun shopping for it.  All in a box interspersed with chocolate and scratch tickets.  Fun.  Oh and he found a little antique china Chihuahua for the CNY mantle. Too cute.

The kids made me cards. Amazing art. Kai drew me a flower.  Need to take a picture.  He drew a line and told Eric that it was the vine.  I didn't believe he did it.  Eric had a hard time keeping it quiet. He totally wanted to show me right away.

All in all a good day.  Now Jia and I are curled up watching a miniature cooking show on YouTube.  Did you know this is a thing?!  She made a 1" gingerbread house!  It's mesmerizing and weird.

Attempted Break In.

Forgot to mention this yesterday in the wee update.  At some point in the last couple weeks someone tried to kick our front door in.  I am less than thrilled about this!!  The whole door jamb is broken.  We didn't realize.  Thought the kids just weren't closing the door properly.  The old hardware held!  Or Isabel scared them off.

Eric is putting in a metal security door jamb. We're planning to be more diligent about closing and locking the gate when we're not home.  Time for cameras.  Won't help or stop the crooks but it will answer questions.

Damn low life's.  Way too many here now.  Not the quaint little town it used to be.

Weekend Fun

Too busy last weekend to post.  Then Jia was sick.  Three days of fevers/chills and headaches. She choose not to eat and only drank what we forced.  She is so still and quiet when she is sick.  It's super scary.  Happy to have her mostly back to normal.  She is loud, bossy and rude again but still not really eating more than tiny bits.  Luk seemed to be getting sick last night and asked for bed because he had a headache. To be fair he complains of head aches often.  From his shunt? Or being tired?  He seems fine today.

The girls moved into their second term.  Lili was asked to piggyback another kid in P.E. So I had to intervene again.  Sigh.  Her last year of gym.

Big news!  Miss Fei got a job!  She starts in April.  Hostessing/Bussing at the Rock Cod.  Lili will be training her.  They're going to work shifts together all summer.  I have no clue how we'll manage camping and outings.  Day by day I suppose. Hard to plan things when we don't know the work shedule more than a week or two in advance.

We're all off to Nanaimo today to play.  I need jeans.  My Birthday tomorrow but Lili works so today is my celebration.

The boys were looking pretty cute today in matching rain jackets.  They were agreeable to posing for me ;)

Buying Cows!

We're buying into a herd share.  We met our cows today!  Such fun.

Paperwork on Monday.  Today was just our farm tour to meet the cows. Daisy, Filla, Peaches and Trudy.  :)  Didn't get all the names.  Not exactly sure how many cows are there.

Why cows?  I have chrones and for mysterious unknown reasons the fresh whole raw milk is taking the pain away.  A herd share is a whole lot easier than having a cow in the back yard.

Last Play

We all enjoyed watching Lili's last play.  So well done.  I think she had a good time.

Jia Sleepwalked.

Ahhh.  Scary.  She bolted out of bed.  I assumed to go to the bathroom but I couldn't hear her and then realized the lights were off.  She is afraid of the dark so would never walk around without turning lights on.  When she came back she quietly climbed in.  Jia does NOTHING quietly.  I asked where she went and she said "to see Dad about my milk". I asked how that went and she babbled something more about milk.  I told Eric this morning that I think she was sleepwalking and he said she was absently looking for her blankie and talking about her blanket and then said "tropical fruit punch". She then left to go back to bed.
He agrees it was weird and she was likely sleepwalking.  We have to ask her tonight if she remembers going to see Eric last night.

Weird.

Reading on-line today and common enough problem that can set in between age 8 and 12. Common with kids who talk in their sleep and have night terrors.  That's Jia!  Interesting that dehydration can play a part and she was talking about milk and fruit punch.  Thirsty?!  Plying liquids tonight.

Eric has disconnected our door chimes as a part of the basement mess.  We need to hire an electrician and have been dragging our feet but I want those door chimes back so onward with the project.

Play On

Lili's play was tonight. Fabulous.  Simply fabulous. Laughed so hard.  Can't wait to see it again on the 26th. If anyone wants to join us Lili has tickets to sell.  It's worth a watch. Sooo funny.
