Pink Shirt Day

The boys are thrilled to wear pink today.  They love pink.  Jia is not thrilled about stinky brothers wearing her shirts. And she wouldn't pose with them. Totally missing the point of pink shirt day.

Last CNY event.

Lunch with the Victoria crew.  We had a nice relaxing day off.  Hung out at Mayfair after.  Eric took the kids to Toys-r-us, big girls shopped with Anna and Abigail while Debbie and I sat at the fireplace and visited. Ended our evening at Spaghetti Factory. 

Jia's Drumline

Jia performed drumline at a local hockey game.  She had a lot of fun.  I'm thankful Eric did this event.  Cold and hockey...didn't appeal to me ;)

Escape Room

Lili went to an escape room with her friends today.  They had a fabulous time.  She's eager to go again.  They made it out in the nick of time, time was 59:59.  Hilarious. It was fun listening to the stories. 

Wii

We have two Wii consoles.  The one upstairs used to run Netflix before the smart tv upgrade.  Then the flood forced all the Wii games to be put away downstairs.  No change in my world but Jia has been missing the games.  Lili and Fei dug it out at CNY and Jia has been talking about Kirby ever since.  Today she hit a wall and COULD NOT stop fussing about Kirby.  I told her it would show up one day.  She has amused herself most of the day dancing to Just Dance.  Luk joined her but he tires out pretty quickly.  I think she has danced for about four hours. Why isn't she tired?! Jia's been bugging all of us to help her look for Kirby.  Sigh.  She said she thought maybe it was in the wrong package and started digging deeper.  And found him.  And it was loud.  Really loud.  She's delighted with herself and the game.  Funny watching Kai.  He loves watching her game.  Says it's the best show! Hilarious.

I'm glad she's kept herself amused all day because she's doing a drumline performance tonight at a hockey game.  Last night she was stressed about it and was looking for permission to not show up.  Had to talk about the team and letting her friends down. 

Red Envelopes

Our Group does a great job of red envelopes for the kids for Spring Festival every year.  8 families this year. 18 kids. 

Assessments

We got dates for Kai last week.  Mid April four full days at Sunnyhill (Children's).  I was happy to have dates but a bit dismayed at 5 days in Vancouver.  I just got a call from Queen Alexandra in Victoria they're offering a one day assessment with the specialist from Vancouver coming here! Wahoo.  Pretty thrilled about that!  March 15.  Glad we didn't have Spring Break plans. 

Chinese New Year

We do several events every year but tonight was the biggest event.  Our group dinner out followed with an evening at our place. 

We had a great time.  Smiling faces all around. 

The red shirts were a riot.

We did a family photo at Wal-Mart earlier.  I didn't get a chance to order any.  They were closed for a late lunch break and we didn't want to wait.

Happy 15th Birthday Fei!

I gifted her my birthstone ring from when I was 16.  Since we share a stone.  Also an old promise ring from an old boyfriend.  They look sweet on her.  Eric took them into a jeweler to be cleaned.  And they charged him.  Handsomely.  Does everyone remember taking jewelry into be cleaned for free?  I don't wear anything other than my jade that doesn't/can't come off and occasionally a wedding band when they fit. 

So, Miss Fei has choosen a family dinner at the Malahat Chalet.  So that's fun.  They swapped their piano lesson and did it on family day so that we could do a dinner.  She's also asked for an ice cream cake which Eric is picking up today but I think we'll likely do dessert at the restaurant and get a bonus night tomorrow with the ice cream cake.

Fei doesn't love making choices.  She avoids it as much as possible.  So the Birthday plans weren't made until yesterday.  Then I said she could pick out her cake after school.  She looked concerned so I suggested Eric could pick for her and she agreed to that.  We tell her all the time there is no wrong choice in these moments.  Too funny.

Kai came down with his box.  Once he was ready for school he sat quietly with the box over his head.  ?  Why didn't I get a photo of that?!  I'm starting to think the box will be around for a while. 

Was sent this photo from Kai's class.  It's cupcake day.  I'm guessing he shoved it all in at once. Embarrassing and cute all at once.  Our boy sure likes cake.
