I thought Luk and I should go rescue a mouse. He agreed.
Yesterday after school we went to Ladysmith and picked up two cages for $10.
Today after school we went for snacks and discussed the plan.
We went to the pet store and oggled the tiny fancy mice that are all girls.
Luk's choice was rescuing a boy mouse from the spca or getting multiple girls from the pet store. Also a rescue mission since then they won't be snake food if we take them. Boy mice live alone and girls can live in groups.
There wasn't a wrong choice.
Omg. Seriously sooooo cute.
Luk is happy to keep his name as Mousey. I'm sort of hoping he'll come up with a name on his own. Mousey is able to climb the cage plastic walls so he's a spidey mouse. It was almost Peter Parker but that was a no. I have suggested Sir Poops-a-lot, which got a laugh but it's still a no.
They've been at the spca for months. There is a poster on the back wall of the three mice available.
We thought we were there to look at Leonardo Demousio but one look at Mousey and he was the one.
We had to do an actual adoption application.
Cage $10, Mouse $5.35, better water bottle $12.99, mouse food, not sure of the amount, boy watching his new friend intently all the way home, priceless.
The spca staff didn't think we'd be able to handle him.
He's actually quite tame.
Love!
Kai is extremely excited about the mouse. He LOVES him. He'll need close supervision. He's gentle but not able to anticipate Mousey moving.
Mousey loves exploring and he moves lightening fast.
The wheel is a weird set up, it is lower than the cage so has to hang over an edge. Mousey doesn't care about these details he just wants to run. I'm pretty sure he's put in a km already.
Only a few minutes with him and he was moved to the bigger cage. He is super active. So fun to watch.
Was Eric on board? Surprisingly, yes. He was actually quite involved with setting up the second cage for him.
I have to go stare at the new baby.
