This is Dozer. He is 15 weeks to her 12. They immediately wanted to play rough. So hard with leashes in a parking lot.
Ladies Day Run. Campbell River.
Syncing radios.
Mabel was amazing at meeting everyone. She traveled in the Jeep great. Peed and pooped where and when we asked her to. Nibbled our food, bananas and pizza crust for treats.
2 male leads for the softroad fsr group and 1 female lead with a male spotter for the offroad group.
20 rigs.
Only two male guests. Eric and one other husband.
Funny thing. I WANTED Eric there. I didn't know any of the other women except the lead (Jen, friend) and there was grumbling about the men being there. I chimed in that I was uncomfortable coming without my partner and that he was my mechanic and then jokingly said "you're welcome". Deadpan.
That fell hard. Total silence.
Another lady came and asked me about Squirrel and wanted to show me her squirrel themed Jeep named Scarlett Lady. So, I escaped the big circle of man haters and didn't try rejoining after that.
Other funny thing, there was another Jeep there named Twisted Squirrel. Three Squirrel Jeeps in one run?!
I did run to Eric and tell him the ladies here were upset there were men there. So he stayed pretty scarce, mostly hung with Mabel. Until we were up in the mountain tops and he was out guiding me and the Jeep ahead of us. We were the tail for Jen.
Only 5 total, three total newbies inbetween Jen and I. For once I wasn't the weakest link ;)
In this moment, Jen/lead is between rocks and stump twist into a hole one side, dip the other then hard turn up a gravel slope onto the road. A bit tricky but didn't look insurmountable. She made it. 2nd Jeep didn't, needed a side pull and then a winch up. Typically this is where Eric runs to help. He stayed put. Ladies run, they don't want him there so he's not going. Haha. He just watched Mabel sleeping. I could see the action from my side, he couldn't. Third Jeep, same. Stuck. Winching again. He still didn't go! This must have been killing him. 4rth Jeep got spooked and was trying to clear brush to go another way. She ran back to me and asked what I was planning. I told her I thought it looked ok.
Big mouth. Haha. Then the pressure was on. Then I maneuvered just fine and when Eric said all gas, no stopping Squirrel flew up the hill. So much joy in that moment. Eric was filming but was so involved in watching that he didn't pan the camera. Jen caught it, she was filming the bypass attempt and in the background Squirrel popped up. Too funny.
When Eric was out spotting Mabel stayed on her seat but a few times she wanted on my lap so we will have to use the car seat strap next time.
Driving where there are no roads.
The end of the day, she napped on the bed while we aired up.
Pictures never show the angles and slopes.
I was pushed a wee bit out of my comfort range a couple times. Squirrel continues to impress.
THE POWER.
Love this picture.
My future Jeep dog has started earlier than I expected. She genuinely had a great day. Such a happy puppy.
Mabel the Mountain Dawg.
I get why some women would prefer no men and prefer the bears. However, there are tons and tons of good men. Hopefully I'm raising good men. There are certainly lots in the off roading group. I won't be looking for more ladies only events. I do wonder what kind of uproar there would be if the men posted a men's only run.
Our offroad group met up with the softroad group at the end of the run. Quinsam Lake. Gorgeous spot.
