Luk and school.

I'm feeling a bit more settled.  Luk's teacher and everyone directory involved in his care are all on the same page.  We're all ignoring the Principal.  Since Luk will be in school in his chair it's been decided to use a stroller in the interim.  Luk was thrilled with the plan.

He showed up this morning with his stroller and our bully tried to make fun but Eric shut him down with an oh so mature "so".

Fingers crossed he can relieve some fatigue.

Also his pediatrician has kids at our school and heard about the issues so she's submitting a letter requesting Luk move less.  Ridiculous.  Making a paper trail.  No iep meeting set.

Kai's iep is next Tuesday.  His teacher is so great about him.  She reports lots of progress.  She also was totally on the kids making fun of him.  Has already targeted the kids.  Talked to them.  To their teacher and the class.  She also says she's using her stink eye to prevent any more issues.  Love hearing that an adult is on it and agrees with our concerns.

Waiting to hear how the first day with a stroller has gone.  Luk was looking forward to having his friends push him around.

One more day until the weekend.  It's been a long week.

Fei and a Science Challenge

I don't post much about the teens.  They aren't hanging with me as much.  They sleep until noon. They have their own agenda.  A social life separate from us.  They don't tell us everything going on and they rarely have photos for me to post.

Fei went on a road trip with a dozen other students to U Vic for a science challenge.  She had a fun day with her friends.  Her group won one of the challenges :)

Hungry

Three of them are HUNGRY.  Waiting.  Waiting.

Check out Luk's party hat.  He made it himself because there hasn't been a Birthday for a while.

School Drama

Got a call last Friday evening and some things were told to me regarding my boys that needed attention at school.  On the heels of hearing from his neurologist last week that we need to consider homeschooling Luk because his fatigue is too high.

The ones in charge of care were on it.  Immediately, no question.  But all must go through the supreme leader.  Two meetings with the principal and I'm so mad I told Eric to go get Luk and bring him home.  What a jerk face.

Then another call last night letting me know we started a storm at the school.  Yikes.  Simple request to have Luk move his body less in a day.  He is exhausted.  He's headed to a wheelchair and he is losing ability in all areas.

Another meeting for Eric again today.  Where he was admonished and told no on the requests.

Arg.  This man is clueless.  Not able to listen.  Forcing our hand to do battle.  Could be all handled in a nice nurturing way but no.

So an IEP meeting scheduled and a paper trail required.  Strangers being called to come and talk it through.  Seriously.  Just have the kid move his body less for heavens sake.  Clearly he'll be moving less in the chair.  There are only six weeks left!  Just let the poor kid move his body less.

We've been asked by the resource teacher not to pull him.  Give her a week to make change.

Never in a million years would I have expected contention over something so simple.  Everyone on the same page except one pig headed man.  I'm guessing he doesn't have many friends.

I'm sure this will play out with tons of conversations over the next little while.

I DO NOT like being challenged over what is best for my kids!!

Oh and in the talks it's clear that Kai is being made fun of at school and that also needs to be dealt with and stopped.  The kids ask him to say things which he does and then they point and laugh and try to speak the way he does.  Not cute at all.  Happening with older kids on the playground and his own classmates in the line up in the morning.  Double Arg.

Music Theory

The girls wrote their first exam on Saturday. They're both certain they didn't do well.  No results for three weeks.  They studied hard. They haven't loved this part of Music Conservatory.  Fingers crossed they did better than they think.

Mother's Day

Butchart Gardens and Cafe Mexico.
The rain held off and the gardens were perfect.  Love being there for tulips.  It's always a good walk in there.
Dinner wasn't so great.  The new Cafe Mexico has changed too much for us. It's no longer a family place.  Food was ok for Luk and I.  No one else liked their food.  They no longer have virgin strawberry marqaritas, so there is totally no need to go back ;)

New camping chair and a Minnie Mug.
Kai's pick.  Easier than holding on.  Less movement.  He's not going to be thrilled with a Disneyland trip.
She's camouflaged.
Water served in tequila bottles.
We strolled around Chinatown after dinner.
First time I can recognize letters.  Luk says Kai wrote his name on his own.  At dinner he wouldn't even try.

Teamwork

The boys are so close.  They're together all the time.  For the most part they are very sweet together.  If they do fight it's a quick outburst of anger and then tears from someone. They forgive in a nano second. We just came in and found them coloring together in the same book.

Sent to me tonight from their EA.
