We offered up an adventure day. Luk was our only bite. He didn't know the plan was 4 wheeling. A bit of trickery.
We did hill 60 again. I don't know how much Luk enjoyed the experience. He did mention being scared and did ask when lunch was. The views were amazing. Eric and I had fun ;)
The goal is mud.
We succeeded. Luk didn't love zooming through the big puddles as much as we do. He wasn't particularly thrilled about Eric whipping off the road to go over obstacles or crossing streams and going in the deactivated dips either. Oh, and at one point I said I could see how easy it would be to get lost and Luk responded with "WHAT? We're LOST?!". We'll see if he ever wants to go again. It did open up discussions about what kind of car he thinks he might like in a few years.
We did run into another Jeep and did the stop to chat thing. Still so weird to me. Funny thing though, the woman driving said to Eric, you look familiar, you live on Jaynes? Is your Jeep new? Haha. Snall towns. Our kids all did the same schools. I think her daughter is Fei's age and they live across the street from us. She took our number but hasn't called yet. She was keen to do Jeepapaloosa.
It was a fun drive for a couple hours then we went to have lunch at Ping's but they were closed so we stopped at the A&W in Oyster Bay. Then back home to feed the crew dinner. Lili did a 7 day free trial of Paramount+ so Eric and I have been binging season 5 of Yellowstone. Now 1883. So good.
In other news, Kai saw the Endocrinologist and is doing well. There has been testicular growth, 1st signs of puberty. We weren't sure he would go through puberty and have been forwarned all along that he will likely need testosterone. Next step is to monitor hormones through blood tests. Also his bmi is down a bit thankfully. He was funny at the appointment, he went in the examination room and grabbed her rolling chair and declared "called it!". She let him. Then he rolled all over through the appointment. He slammed into the wall hard and we had to put a stop to the antics so he then declared "hey, I found a flashlight". Yup, he had the eyes and ears light. Oy.
Luk saw his Pediatrician and all is good with him. He is officially taller than me and one inch taller than Kai. He has a bunch of appointments coming up. He's up next at Queen Alexadra for an autism assessment. I just got the paperwork to fill out. It's about 50 pages long. Very intimidating. I printed it all out and read a bit and then put it aside. There is no advantage to a diagnosis other than answers and perhaps more direction going forward. Typically getting the diagnosis would mean getting funding for services, help in school and a disability tax break but he already has all that.
Lili has been busy. Doing lots of fun things. Spending time with friends, enjoying her last little bit of school and prepping for her school Japan trip. She won't let me post any pictures. Her Birthday is Wed but she will be on campus all day so we are celebrating tomorrow. The plan is lunch out with Fei while the 3 littles are in school and then dinner at home with Gramma.
The calendar is full. Every day we just plug through the chores and go to appointments. It feels pretty endless.
On Saturday Lili and I were out running errands and we watched a lady ram into a truck in the Walmart parking lot. She tried to just leave. I jumped in front of her car and took a picture of her and her license plate. She was quite annoyed and rolled her window down to yell at me. Oy. I told her she had to stop and give her information to the truck she hit. Her response was "I just hit him a little". The truck was damaged and she hit it hard enough to move it. Scary. She needs reassessing on the driving thing. Anyways, luckily the police were already there and we were able to flag him over to deal with her. In more fun news, once in Walmart we found a chocolate monster truck for Kai for Easter and a monster truck Hot Wheels to go with it.
Eric stayed home. He's been working on replumbing the trailer. It had some weird issues. The sink has a separate small grey tank that doesn't flow to the big tank. Weird. He removed it entirely and now it's just the one grey tank. The fresh water tank was full of green slime again. We're new to this problem. He removed the tank and cleaned it thoroughly. He's now installed it further back for better weight distribution. The trailer has a smell. I'm fairly certain it's the tanks. Here's hoping. Our 1st trip of the season is on the 15th. We're off to Elk Falls for spring break. Weird timing. It's definitely too cold for camping right now. Eric is almost done the plumbing job but his grinder caught fire and burned him a bit so he couldn't totally finish. He's bought a replacement grinder. He's amazing. Out there in the cold while mother earth is attempting to snow getting us ready for spring camping. Why is spring break so early? I suspect we'll mostly be inside watching movies and playing games. Lili was planning to come but she won't sleep in the trailer with us and wanted to camp in her car. A bit too cold for that still.
