Valentines

A Valentines Picture.
Miss Lacie from years past.  Man I miss her.  😪

I left chocolate and heart cookies out for the kids.  Godiva for the big girls.  Yum.  They shared a little.  Eric and I did nothing as usual.  He's planning to make us pink pancakes for dinner.  Update.  They were pink sheet pancakes with raspberry filling.  Seriously good.
Another quiet day at home.  Ho hum.  Lili and Fei were bickering in the living room this afternoon so I escaped to my pink room for a nap.  Esmei loves our time together in there.  I didn't get the nap.  Too many messages coming in.  I could leave the phone somewhere else but I don't want to miss any time with friends.  Even if it's on the phone.  Man I miss my friends.
I invited the puppies to come with me to the pink room but they didn't figure it out.  I figured they must be with Fei.  Nope, they were waiting in bed for me.  Haha.  A missed cuddle session.  Their entire life is about getting to lay down with me ;)

The Mom of my oldest friend from elementary school is trying to set up a zoom party for our old group.  I hate zoom.  I avoid all Jetsons type things but I'm oddly excited about this one.  Haven't seen one of the girls since I was 10.
And another togetherness moment captured.  Coco clearly loves Isabel but at times would like to attack her. Lili told me today she's afraid of Coco and would like me to get a behavioral trainer in here.  Haha.  This is  where Chihuahuas get their bad rap.  I arrogantly think a 3 1/2 pound dog isn't scary no matter what.  She is a LOT of dog.
The last of my bday gifts came in.  LOVE it.

Jia and Luk put the effort in to go play in the snow today.  I got my camera to get a picture out the window but couldn't find them.  Eric said they made it 3 minutes out there.  Haha.  We are not a winter fun family by any means.  I asked Kai if he wanted to play with them, he ran from the room screaming "I'm outta' here".

Kai's Metcha

Five years ago we met our Kai.  Today he was told his story and he knew right away he gets to pick dinner.  He shouted out Chinese.  That was surprising.  It's snowing. Not sure what's open.  Eric says he can make chow mein if we don't get out. Update, Eric and Luk went out and picked up Kai's family feast.  It was a super quiet day.  Most of us in jammies.  No one played in the snow except Isabel and Coco.  Oh and Eric, but he was shoveling.  Pretty sure he wasn't having much fun.

Lunar New Year

Lili and Fei made dinner!  It was fabulous.  And so much fun for all of us to gush and praise their efforts.  I did the dishes.  It's 6:00 and we're already settling in for the evening.  I'm already in pj's.
Happy Lunar New Year everyone. It's looking massively different for us this year.  What is normally a full two week spring festival celebration with lots of different events and fun is toned down to a dumpling feast at home with just the family tonight.  The kids are taking this in stride.  They're happy enough.  I didn't even bother decorating the house this year.  Just doesn't feel very festive without the friends around.  Treats and money were handed out as usual this morning.  Eric and I are dressed in red.  The boys were looking for their dragon t-shirts this morning.  I'm at work today so Lili is shopping for a couple missing ingredients and the family is going to attempt dumpling making without me.  New moto, it is what it is.  ---   This was my Facebook post.  Just copied it here.
The doggies got dumplings too.  They're sitting so nicely together.  Jia got this picture.  They sit like this often but the second I move Coco leaps up so I never get the shot.

Jia lost her Roblox account.  I had time today to call and get it repaired.  She's one happy girl.  So happy she sat with the boys and got them accounts set up and is playing online with them now. It's pretty rowdy in our kitchen.  Fun times.

So...is there snow coming?  What does this long weekend look like?!  We have an episode of Resident Alien and a Big Sky to watch tonight so that's fun.  Lili and Eric have a Wanda Vision for tonight so they're happy about that one.

Lili is on a reading break.  She gets to take the whole weekend off.  Fei has caught the cold from the littles.  She's sneezing her head off.  Just in time for her Birthday.  She says she's always sick on her Bday.  I don't have that memory.

Kai hasn't been told yet that tomorrow is his metcha day.  That will be a fun tell tonight.

Rosie Update

They're doing great so far.  She's cuddling with them.  Slept through the night in her crate.  Peed on the pad this morning and her ears are up so she's not terrified.  Can't wait to hear more happy updates and see her tail up and wagging.  She's being loved.  Awe.
Looking adorable with her girl this afternoon.
Eating!!
A perfect playpen set up for her. I love it.

Miss Rosie is with her new family.

She went to the vet today, special needs as we expected, we were shocked to hear she is visually impaired.  They were surprised she can see at all and are guessing she sees light and shadows.  She motored around here ok, although admittedly was hitting her head a lot. No other anomalies.  No parvo.  Mary wanted to get her before the snow fall.  So she and May walked over and we did a puppy hand off and they boarded right back on the same boat.
She vomited in the kennel, long drive for her.  She's new to car rides.  Fei and I had to baby wipe her clean.  Poor wee thing.  It was crazy cold in the terminal so I stuffed her in my
coat. She napped while we waited.
The actual gotcha moment.  Why yes, I was indeed attempting to keep my tears at bay.  Half thrilled for Rosie meeting her family.  Half sad for me.  I fell hard for this sweet girl.
Mary and May kept us updated on their first moments.  Prayers for smooth sailing and a calm night for them all.  New babies are the best.
I wore the sweat suit I got for my bday today.  Lili was surprised I was heading out wearing it, she says it looks like pajamas.  It was comfy and warm.  It was good to get back and get cuddles with the two little ones.
Eric sent me this picture while we were out.  She growls at Isabel when I'm around.
Fei got this one of Coco.  Gorgeous.  We just heard today that one of the pups seized by the spca had hydrocephalus the same as Rosie and Coco and the spca didn't consider the dog worthy of a chance and euthanized it.  The seizure story is long, complicated and grossly exaggerated.  Not my place to post about it.  My stress level is high. The breeder knew spca would put Rosie down so stuffed her in a purse and ran with her.  I was asked to take her and I'm pretty pleased we got her out.  She is a real rescue baby now.  She has two needs, one the same as Luk and one the same as Kai.  So yes, she does have a right to live, so does Coco.  Sickening that others would make the choice to kill them.  So tonight I hold them closer and appreciate that we're the lucky ones that get to enjoy them.

Steroids.

I'm on steroids for a couple days to deal with the dental issues.  Cured my current crohns issues overnight.  Feeling like I could go jogging today.  I won't.  It's cold out.  But such a great feeling.  You all wanted to know that.

Update...
I went full tilt all day.  Totally over did it.  I'm exhausted but still no pain.

Had our conference call with Children's about Luk today.  They have some concerns and want him to do a sedated mri to check his shunt and hydrocephalus.  Waiting to find out if Victoria will accommodate that or if we need to go to Children's.  To clarify, they think he might need a revision, a shunt revision is brain surgery.  Considered normal for spiba bifida but not something we've dealt with yet so it will be a big, huge freaking deal.  Luk will  be very upset and I will be strong for him but totally distraught.  But it's not a thing until it's a thing.

Fei has an essay assignment she's wanting help with.  Also had to fill out papers for her employer to get wage subsidy for her.  She goes back to work in March.

A friend is calling with an unsolvable big problem.

A close friend needs a new rental home but has a dog and cat in an extremely bad housing crisis.

Rosie, vet, making plans with Mary and the delivery filled a lot of our day.  I don't love driving at night anymore.  Glaucoma is not my friend. Definitely satisfying to see Mary and May so happy.

Filled our Lunar New Year bags.  Fei and I delivered 8 of them on the way to Duke Point.

Jia has had a problem with one of her games and needs help solving it.  I don't know how to help her.  I'm pretty sick of computer crap.
I want real life and real people back.

Luk and Kai have been doing great but chose today to really yell and fight.  While Lili was doing a mid term test.  Sigh.

Tomorrow starts Lunar New Year.  My plan was to take Friday off and make a feast of dumplings.  I took today off instead so I've challenged Lili and Fei to make them this time.  I did buy cheater wrappers just in case.  We'll see how the day pans out. We all opted out of decorating this year.  Just not feeling it.  Everyone agrees the important thing is the dumplings.

Jia, Luk and Kai all have a cold.  Started with a sore throat, then a runny nose, now a slight cough. New health rules say they need a covid test or isolate for 10 days.  So they have 4 more days to isolate.  Once upon a time we wouldn't have even considered them sick.

Mom has lots going on and we're not much help to each other these days.

Kai's metcha day on Saturday.  Wonder if he'll pick cereal for dinner. Or possibly pizza.

Valentines Day on Sunday. Zero plans.

Monday is Fei's 18th Birthday!! Also BC's Family Day.  She can't decide what to do for fun or what to eat or what kind of dessert.  I've given her lots of suggestions.  Haha. Looking like it will be a surprise day just like for Jia.

My stress level is super high.

I'm not crazy.

I feel a bit like how Coco looks here.  I went to the dentist today. No infection but clearly nerves not healing after the last filling replacement.  So I have two days of steroids to try.  After that it's a root canal.  Yuk.  So not stress and I don't need a psychiatrist.  Yet.
Rosie slept on Eric last night.  Tonight she settled in on me and snoozed.  Major progress.  She even had a run around play with Coco.  Her tail was up and she was darting and zooming.  Yay.
Bedtime cuddles.
