Normally we camp. Normally we're with a group of people. Normally we all have fun with Canadian clothing. Lots of red. We eat red foods. There are bike parades, there are decorations, the flag is out, balloons and glow sticks and fun. Most importantly I didn't wear my FAVORITE shirt. The red tshirt with the moose on it.
Today was MUCH quieter.
Jia was the only one to ask why. She was open to my reasons. As a kid that has been recently struggling/dealing with kids saying ignorant racial things to her at school she was on board with solidarity with any people that might be hurting for any reason.
We did get to visit friends who were camping at the lake. A mini camping day for us but then home to our own beds ;) I did get to eat maple cookie s'mores.
