We left at 7am and stopped at 4. With several stops along the way. Car repairs needed, lunch, gas and potty breaks. Eric is super handy and very clever so he cautiously thinks the issues are okish for getting there and back home. It was stupid and brave to take an older, high km car on it's first long haul. We'll see how it does tomorrow.
We were surprised to see how up close and personal we were to Mt Shasta last night.
We arrived at Franklin Hot Springs. It even more rustic than we were anticipating. We were told to park anywhere in the field past the port a potties. It's a dirt lot. Eric, being Eric parked randomly in the middle. Haha. I would have tucked under a tree by the lakes edge.
The potties aren't even functional.
The place was actually really busy when we got here.
I explored while Eric was working on the car. Then I was feeling chilled and went to Cheese to get under the blankies.
Eric was checking on why I wasn't in the hot spring already. Well, it's rough. Perhaps too rough. I only saw one other white woman. I wasn't brave enough. So we had dinner and contemplated how I'd feel if we came all this way and didn't at least try.
We went.
It's dirty.
The water is warmish but definitely not anywhere near hot. We were in for two hours and met some lovely people.
Everything is slimy. Ew. Slight sulfur smell but not bad. A young fellow went to the lake and brought back mineral mud for us to do face scrubs. I wasn't brave enough for that either.
I asked Eric if he would come back, he said yes. I'm so surprised. I personally don't feel compelled to add this to the do it again list. Haha.
We did get a shower after.
Back to Cheese for snacks and bed.
Tomorrow we have a 3.5 hour drive to Anaheim.
