The appointment with the Endocrinologist went well. We liked her. She was great with Kai, explained so we could understand and she had a realistic view of Kai and his future. She let us know there wasn't anything more we could be doing for his care. We're not used to compliments. So although there is no sign of puberty yet, there is a smidge of hope and a bit of time before he hits 14 for puberty to start. We were told he would need testosterone to reach adult height. Which isn't quite the actual issue. It's more about bone density. I was able to ask my questions without judgment and she agreed. Creating a big man child with anger and a sex drive seems unrealistic to me if we're still giving him baths, helping in the bathroom, brushing his teeth and wiping his hands and face after every meal. So if he needs it at 14 it will be a low dose with us doing the injections every two weeks at home. Kai is going back in 8 months and she will have an x-ray done of his hand to check his bone growth with his actual age. Lili had it done to determine her actual age. She is younger than we think by 6 to 12 months. Which seems unlikly since she was 9 months when we got her. The last thing she did was check his testicles. She had testicle shaped beads that she used to compare his. A four is no puberty development and a six is the very beginning. Kai was a 5. That was interesting, Kai wanted to play with the beads. He was a trooper through the appointment. He did cry three times. Trigger conversations about food. She was asking if he was hoarding, stealing or hiding food. Nope. As long as the food schedule is adhered to it's going pretty good.
We went to Costco after. We were limited on time because we needed to get back to pick up Luk. We grabbed a few groceries and had the hotdog deal for lunch. Kai LOVES hotdogs. The 3 of us shared a sundae. Kai actually shared, he took turns getting his spoonfuls. No tears.
It came home with us. I have hinted for one for years and years and years. So excited. He wants to beef up the back patio before setting it up.
Fei took Lili to the Chemainus hospital. The Dr said "WHOA!" when he saw her leg. He did say the pain, tingling, swelling and bruising was all being caused by the wound. She has lines on her leg to mark perimeters. She's to race back in if the wound grows past the lines. He also prescribed more antibiotics and Tylenol 3's. She crashed on the couch in the afternoon. Eric and I just went to bed early. It's been long days.
We still have so much to do before Thursday.
