On Monday I planned to take Oscar for a drive. I was undecided on the mall in Nanaimo to find token Santa gifts for the kids or the the harbor in Victoria to see the Panorama that is supposed to be there getting her whale tail put back on.
The plan came together for the mall to meet a friend for lunch. Then it changed to a 3pm lunch which didn't work for my diabetes. I HATE having to plan food. Arg. It also meant Jia should come. And then Fei. And then Lili. Haha. The four of us had a lovely time eating lunch and shopping for a bit. Fei and Jia branched off and left Lili and I to our own devices. Then we met friends for a visit and drove home for dinner. Eric had a lovely stew for us. I did have to drive in the dark, which I normally hate but honestly it wasn't so bad in Oscar. I know people are complaining about L.E.D. headlights but I could really see so much better with them.
When we arrived home there was a giant class A motorhome parked on the road across from our driveway. Blocking the road. I had to drive into the oncoming lane to get in the driveway. NOT safe.
I went out to bang on the moho door but chickened out and went to get Eric. He went across the street and I hung back in our driveway with a phone in hand in case he needed help. I mean we were clearly dealing with a special kind of stupid that would park in the road. A busy road at that.
He knocked on a neighbors door. He answered and Walter shot out the door and came across the road to me. Eek. I yell out "is that Walter?!". Eric said yes. He and the fellow discussed the moho that had been there for hours. The owner detached his truck from the back and just left it there.
While Eric went to the next house I talked to Walters owner. Haha. Funny and not funny all at the same time. Apparently he has lived with them for two years, he's a stray, uses their cat door, eats their food, loves treats, is a great cuddler, his name is Tigger and they even took him to the vet to find out why he had no teeth. They assumed he was neglected to be missing all of his teeth. I told him he was ours, paid $3000 to have the teeth removed by a specialist up from the states. Feline stomatitis. Which their vet said was likely the case. I told him he eats specialty food at our place. Has a vet and a groomer and his name is Walter. Also told him he was 8 and has five kids that love him. This is all so crazy.
If he took him to a vet and said he was a stray, why didn't they have his tattoo checked? So the tattoos don't work.
He did agree that he doesn't think Tigger would do well locked inside. I'd love to see him off the damn busy road. Also he said he does the cutest thing where he climbs up. I said yes, I tought him "uppies".
So apparently we share a cat.
Oh, and Eric called the police. They called back a couple times. They were able to reach the owner with the license plate number and he was trying to figure out a tow. He doesn't have bcaa. Eric ended up putting cones out to warn people. The next afternoon the tow truck finally came. It was truly amazing there wasn't an accident. The tow truck driver was a bit clueless about the moho in general so Eric helped him figure things out.
It was all just a little bit too exciting a day. None of us know how we feel about Walter having two names and two families. And honestly, there could be more.
