Date Night

Dinner out just us, then we went to see Ron James at the theater.  Hillarious.  We both had a few belly laughs.  And neither of us took a single picture.

We grocery shopped before we went out but were running out of time so dumped a big grocery order on the girls right when they were cooking and serving dinner.  Came home to every thing put away, kitchen cleaned and boys asleep.  Good job girls!  Thank you.

Circus Fun

I thought it might be a tad boring after just seeing the circus last year but to our delight the whole show was completely different.  Lots of thrills and laughs.  We were all too cold but enjoyed it none the less.

Luk is 8.

We celebrated Luk on Monday.  He started the day with a toy shopping trip with Grandma.  That was fun.  Then a nice lunch at home with a chocolate cake by Dad.  We went to Victoria, checked out the improved Mayfair mall then walked the breakwater.  The rain cleared for us.  Then a quick dollar store shopping spree for Luk and finally dinner at the Spaghetti Factory with friends.  It was a good day.
An egg wrap...his favorite.

Purdy's.

Shannon captured the shock on his face at the sparkler!  Haha.  Not sure he'd ever seen one before.

These three are too cute together.

A Peaceful Weekend.

There is a calm in the house with Kizmet gone.  No cross fencing, doors shut, or cat door locked.  Saturday was a home day.  Mom surprised us with a side board.  She's downsizing. Threw the day off for me.  Didn't get the chores done I wanted and started a chain of other chores.  Making room
Haha.  Eric spent the bulk of the day moving Dad's car hoist over here.  He's pretty happy about it.  The girls worked most of the weekend.  The boys went to a Birthday party today.  Eric and I shopped this afternoon sans kids.  We've had a late dinner.  I've hit the couch with Sasha.  Boys are in bed.  We all have the day off tomorrow for Luk's Birthday.  Yay.
Saturday lego fest...lasted for hours.

Minecraft lego.

To be so popular:)

A play date with Mackenna and shockingly more Lego.  For hours!

Making room.

Looks like we're set up for home schooling.

Love it.  Thanks Mom.

Kai was happy to play with balloons.  No interest in the other kids.

Another Kismet Update.

After a few more attacks from Kismet on our pets it was decided that he needed a home better suited to him.  Facebook came through.  He found a home with a vet in Saanich.  Acreage.  He can be indoor/outdoor and she has no cats, little dogs or kids.  Too perfect to be true.  Christina picked him up today and delivered him to his new Mama.  I'm considerably too emotional about this one.  We all really liked him and were trying so hard to make it work.  Fei and Jia are not impressed with me right now.

Kismet Update

Ups and downs while he settles into his new home.  He has attacked a few times.  He's bad at it and so far no one has been hurt.  He's gone after Isabel, Esmei, Jenny and Walter.  Sigh.  He was out most of yesterday and today he's completely zen with everyone.  Fingers crossed it's a turning point.  It just feels super calm today with everyone. He is a really, really big personality.  He's fabulous with the kids.  We're all still protecting Sasha.  A neighbor rescued him on Friday.  He was cornered in her yard by the cats in our feral colony.  I didn't know we had a colony right behind us.  It explains Oliver but shocking we've never seen any unknown cats!  It's only been a week.  Overall it's going ok.  We're all still cautious and are prepared to seek a better fit for him if he is still attacking.  The girls want to rename him Levi.  I would like a K name.  To honor his two previous names of Karma and Kismet. All of our critters have people names.  We jokingly call him cougar.
Relaxing with Walter.

Asleep with his face mushed in the arm.
Reminds me of Garfield.

He seems to interact with all of us but cuddles are almost always with Jia.

Walk the Wall

We walked in a group led by Mary called Panda Power.  It was a sad turnout.  Every one there had some fun anyways. And again...the rain held off!!  We met some nice families.  The cupcakes were pumpkin :) I won top earner and got four movie tickets that include treats.  Jia, May and Esmei came in first, they ran the whole way and they won prizes.

First through the finish line.

Holding the red ribbon up for everyone else to run through.

Panda Power.

Autumn Moon Festival

The rain held off!  Had a nice dinner with friends and a great walk.  Fun little night with friends. Keeping traditions going.  Lili and Fei were sad to miss it.

No heart issues for Kai.

He doesn't have any symptoms that would lead us to believe he had a heart condition but it is a common need for kids with his syndrome so his geneticist wanted him checked out.  We spent yesterday after noon at Victoria General.  Lovely folks.  Happy to report there are no issues.  Don't have to go back for three years.  Yay.

The second we went through the main door Kai was visibly upset.  Clearly he remembers the hell of being in the picu during his last time there with the tonsil and adnoid fiasco.  Nothing was going to calm him down.  So be bawled and complained bitterly through the whole ECG.  Poor little kid.  He was better through the ultra sound, he was laying down watching Monsters Inc.  He said it tickled.  She had to take 60 pictures so it took a while.

He was done, had a copy of his rythm and we were leaving and he was still complaining.  I definitely preferred it when he was a good little patient.  Now he assumes every little thing is going to hurt.

Kismet figured out the cat door!  He came home pretty happy with himself.  He even rolled around and played with Fei with the dogs right there.

He's liking this kid.

I came home today and snuck some quiet alone time in my car to answer emails and texts.  Haha.  Obviously wasn't moving fast enough for Walter.

Kismet was in and out today.  Tired himself out ;)

Punch Cans

Autumn Moon Festival on Friday.  Kids are making punch cans as their lanterns this year. Update...Sasha is doing great.  Bounced back Sunday afternoon.  Now to stop her from running and playing for a couple weeks!  Kizmet is making progress.  Meeting everyone slowly.  We lost him for a while tonight.  Eric found him in Jia's coat cubby.

He didn't want to touch, just direct
and the dinosaur goes like this.

Careful planning.

Clever duplo hack.

An old visitor is back.

Anyone remember the rescued cat that went home with my friend?  Well...months later he's back.  He is a handful...not suited for her condo.  It's only been a couple hours and he's made himself at home.  Investigated every inch of the kitchen, laundry and bathroom area.  He paces.  Plays.  Follows everyone.  He loves looking out the windows.  He'll be all too happy to realize he gets to roam outside in a few days.  He is gorgeous.  Snow leopard Bengal.  We think.  He's a talker.  I blew him some bubbles in the bathtub.  He liked that.  He has only met people so far.  He's attacked the glass door/ Isabel.  Fingers crossed for smooth transitions and meetings.
