Summer is almost over.

Every year. It goes too fast. School is a bad word around here. None of us are happy that it's looming. The weather has turned, we're all cold. The smoke is still heavy in the air.

Jia went for a pedicure and lunch with friends. So cute.

Then a bit of knitting with Grandma.

Oh Oliver. Another sneaky nap with Lacie.

Cuteness

Eric texted me this picture on the weekend. They look adorable. Later I heard the rest of the story. Apparently Lacie woke up to find little kitty in her bed and kicked him out loudly. Hahaha.

Work Shedules.

I didn't see Lili yesterday. Won't see her today or Thursday, or Friday. Saw her Monday and won't see her again until Saturday. Unless I stay up late. How crazy is that?!

Jia and Zoey

Jia had her friend stay for a sleepover. Crossing over with Lili's party. Busy house.

They wanted to swim in the morning and I tried pushing them off. Too busy helping Lili to watch them. Then ended up with a few minutes free so I told them they could swim. No clue what happened but they managed to break the pool thermometer. Yikes. No mercury thank gawd. But a broken glass tube missing and presumably in the water. As Lili has friends coming to swim! So we had to get Eric. He put on a mask and tried for an hour to find the broken glass tube. He didn't find it. It still hasn't turned up. Girls weren't able to tell us what happened. It will remain a mystery. Eric checked all around the pool too. I was thinking this is the stuff of sitcoms. You can't make this stuff up.

Anyways...Jia and Zoey had a great time. They're VERY busy together.

Disney Dinner Party

Lili wanted to host a party for her friends. There was supposed to be the whole group but numbers dwindled over the weeks leading up. Some on holidays, some working. It gets tougher to get together as they get older. It ended up being five of them. Lili bought the supplies. She got up early and got the house ready. Vacuumed, washed floors, dusted, cleaned the bathroom, gathered and emptied the garbage. Did litter boxes. Swept the deck and polished the glass table. Cleaned her room. She even set the table. I cleaned the kitchen. Fed breakfast. Cleaned the kitchen. Made cookies for the party. Cleaned the kitchen. Made lunch. Cleaned the kitchen. ;)

She was so surprised at how much work it was. Wanted to know if we actually do all of that every time someone comes over. Uh, ya. And to a smaller degree it's what we do every day! She thought she had learned a lot. She was also very appreciative of the work we do and thanked me for helping her get ready. Such a sweet girl.

It was all good. Lots of giggles. They were playing cards and singing Disney songs together. Oliver got a ton of loves.

Casting Call

Sonic the Hedgehog is coming to Ladysmith. A Jim Carey movie. There was a casting call for townsfolks this weekend. There were way more people there than I expected! Thankfully it wasn't too hot and we managed the 2 1/2 hour wait so Lili and Deanna could apply.

Something different in a day. Oddly...the lady in front of us has worked as an extra, and the fellow in front of her, and another fellow behind us has auditioned many times but never picked.

Finally in the door.

Stage Moms.

Done! Hard to imagine being picked from so many but fun to dream. A cool experience for all of us.

Messages

I was messaged in the middle of the night by a woman helping a Mom in China looking for her son from Ningdu. Same age as Luk. She was wanting to know his special need. I told her Spina Bifida. She got back to me this morning...not a match. It was exciting for a few hours.

Snagged a helper.

Kai was really keen to help me clean the mouse house tonight. He normally declines holding them but tonight he said yes. He was totally delighted holding Ruby and giggled the whole time because it was tickly. Then Luk honed in for a turn. Then Jia came and tried to take over and reclaim her mouse. Uh no. She hasn't participated in a year! Now that Kai isn't afraid we all need to watch out for him opening the cage.

Celebrating Fei

Fei's gotcha yesterday. Eric and kids went to Tranfer Beach and enjoyed the Tay-Rex truck for lunch. Then after work we went to Pirate Pack Day at the White Spot. Fun fun fun.

Kai and Oliver

This morning Kai was rolling the ball for Oliver and then he throws his arms in the air and says "pass it to me kitten!". Eric and I were sitting at the table having a good chuckle.

Adventure Day

It was a near perfect day. Our company left early and we had a day to fill with no plans. So an adventure day it was! We usually have a slight plan but mostly we just see what happens.

Always fun to see Lian and family.

Breakfast together...almost unheard of.

Went to check out the fire from a couple nights ago.

We found little golden plums at a farm stand. Yum.

Local honey.

I don't think Luk liked the plums.

Honey tasting.

Meeting a 16 week old puppy named George.

Crofton walk.

Mama raccoon and her two kits.

Cropped picture of the raccoons. Luk saw them first and we got to watch them for a while. Mama chattered to them the whole time. Super cute.

Luk is taking this race way more seriously than Jia.

On near perfect days you see odd things...like Jia and Kai playing together.

Right after this picture Jia thought they should roll down the hill. Luk did, Jia decided not to and Kai gave it a try. I filmed it. Need to post it later. It was extremely funny. Rolling wasn't for Kai.

We found Al and Lois.

Hot dogs and ice cream for lunch.

Bright Angel Park.

As incredible as this is...he lost ANOTHER tooth and ate it!! He's lost 5 and eaten four.

And another walk. I usually like this park because the trail is wheelchair friendly. With Luk out of school his mental fatigue isn't an issue and we've barely needed to use the chair.

This was too tricky.

So Fei helped.

Jia showed him while he studied.

Daddy helped. We'll have to go back. He really wanted to get this working.

Luk said he couldn't push Fei but he tried and he did it.

Then he said he couldn't get on the swing without help but he did that too. Big stuff.

Off to Best Buy so they could get Bose speakers. Good thing they work now!

Triple O's for dinner. Finally tried the Maui burgers. Mmm. New fave.

Then we ended our day at where else, yup, Walmart. A few necessities and a bit of boy Birthday shopping.

We get tomorrow together too. No plans yet.
