Osborn Bay

Camped with the kids again this weekend. Short trip. Littles had kindermusic and the bigs had rehearsal today. We walk past this resort often. Glad we finally went there. Total jewel in our back yard. We were right by the ocean! We were blown away by our incredible view!

We were expecting rain and cold weather but were pleasantly surprised by sun! Mom and Dad came for a visit. We had a great play outside and some down time inside.

Motorhome was fabulous again.

Eric came out for dinner and then took the bigs home.

Jia went to a Birthday party today. I dropped her off and Luk and I had lunch in the motor home. Then he watched a Wiggles dvd while I read. Sooo handy to carry a little house around with you ;)

These privacy curtains are perfect for Jia's shows.

Racing

Eric entered a dirt bike race on Saturday. First one since he isn't riding with Scott anymore. His friend Bill spent the day with him. He didn't place and didn't expect to but he had a nice ride and managed to pull off the trail and get some pictures of other riders. Doesn't look like a good time to me. To each their own. The first picture is of his bike and Bill. Wish we had pictures of Eric riding!

Jia Giraffe

Too cute. She made this on her own. It's possible she used a whole roll of tape. She even let Luk try it on.

Bamberton

We've camped here several times and have never walked the trail to the beach. Weird. So this time it was my mission to finally find out how long that darn trail is. It didn't work out.

We arrived at noon, there were only two sites left, in April. Jia and Luk were yawning. I guess Kinder music wore them out. Jia crashed right away and Lili joined her. Luk layed down and we think he would have slept except a ranger came by to check us in. Jia slept for 3 and a half hours! Fei and I played Nertz. Then we made dinner and Eric joined us. We had a nice walk after dinner but weren't sure how long the trail to the ocean was so skipped it.

We had a nice time there but we still have to go back. The mystery trail calls.

Jia and Luk were really keen to be camping. Lili and Fei had a hard time deciding if they wanted to go or stay home. They promised this would never happen. Sigh. In the end they went home after dinner with Eric.

Today was a write off. Came home and dealt with the motor home. Got ready to take the girls to chalkboard. Delivered the stage props. Helped out Al whose motorhome was on the side of the road. Picked up the girls. Day gone. The weekend just flew by.

She wanted some quiet.

He climbed up these stairs on his hands and knees like he always does. For some reason he was super proud. Horay. Then needed help down. Too funny.

The ocean looks so far away, wonder how long that darn trail is!?

True love.

Jia was delighted to help tie down the stage props.

Soooo COOL!

The Mr. hooked up a back up camera on my motorhome!! LOVE. It works better than expected. He got the back up beeper working again too. Heading out tomorrow afternoon with the kidlets for one night. Can't wait to try backing into our site with the new camera. Notice Lili and Fei on the screen.

Eric also got me a burnt orange comforter for my unit. It looks great. Toss cushions don't match anymore. Must mean I need another trip to China for matching ones ;) Why yes, there are more pictures of Jia than the others. She follows me and she likes to help.

And if back up camera and comforter weren't exciting enough...he also installed the new toilet! Yay. The old one had a broken dial for flushing. Monkey wrenched metal dial that dug into my derriere. Pleasant. Eric said when he took it apart the underside was held together with worn out duct tape that was ready to let go. Got that fixed in the nick of time. I can't believe how great the new color looks. I was doubtful we would find anything for the 1980 bathroom. Hoping this will solve the smell problem we were having.

Exciting days. Jia and I have been out to the moho loading up. We both want to sleep out there now ;) Camping season has started!

Bikes galore.

Against all odds Eric found 1974 Yamaha bikes for the girls to match the one he just bought. Crazy. These are a true project. All in pieces. Both girls are super excited to be building their own bikes.

Lili and I headed to Victoria today for x-rays and Scholiosis Clinic at Queen Alexandra. It looks like Miss is done going. They have proclaimed her done with the monitoring. Dr. Penny was really surprised to see she had grown another inch. He asked her if she'd like to be taller and she said yes and he said well let's hope for more. She is 4' 7.9". She was all grins when we left. Happy she doesn't have to keep going. However, now that she's done growing they want to look at her feet again. We were told years ago she would need surgery when she was grown but 'grown' was estimated years ago to be 16, not 13 ;)

Eric and I were both done at the same time so we met for lunch. He had his trailer full of bike parts so we met at the Malahat Chalet. Local friends, have you eaten there? Wow. What a nice surprise. Food was great, service was excellent and the view was spectacular. We'll be planning some trips to include a meal there! Luk was adorable reading the menu and pointing to what he wanted.

Bandits

Bandits have invaded the Nelson house. We shake in terror from Cowgirl Jessica and Cowboy Jessie James.

Too cute.

They even thought to have pillow saddles on the bench ponies. LOVE. Ye Ha.

Saturday

A Saturday like any other with a long list of chores. Ended up running errands the bulk of the day. We're all fed and feeling good but I really didn't get much done. Lots of driving. Kids in all directions. Fei away at a sleep over. Lili has a friend over for a sleep over. Luk and Jia had kinder music. Jia ran errands with me and we had lunch out together. She picked Dog House. We got there at 11:45 and there were already 10 names ahead of ours. Wild. The hostess called out and asked if anyone wanted to sit at the counter. Jia didn't hesitate, she yelled back "we do". Hillarious. She was beyond delighted. Turned out to be a great people watching place.

So, I still have a long list of chores for tomorrow. We'll see. We'll still have to pick up Fei, see Lili's friend off. I have a cousin and her daughter coming to visit in the morning. The girls have a three hour rehearsal mid afternoon. Al is coming to help Eric with the set building. Then we have friends over for dinner.

It's all good. I'm hiding in my room right now ;)

Family Dance

We've been skipping the school dances for a few years. Lili and Fei never want to go and we're usually grateful, they're too loud.

It's Jia's turn now. I left deciding we'd go until the last moment. She was so excited and it's not often she gets told 'wear what ever dress you want'. We all ended up going. Jia had a riot. She had a few friends there but mostly danced with Marly. They were so sweet together. Luk was happy to stick close to Eric and play with his glow sticks. I didn't see much of Lili or Fei so they must have found something to do.

Luk is going to Pre-school

We got Luk registered for pre school today. He's going to do Tues. and Thurs. mornings starting in Sept. Yay. He's going to the same school all three girls went to. We had previously been told that he would need a support worker with him if he wasn't potty trained. So we were quite pleasantly surprised to be told today that he could come and we'd just work it out. I was clear with them that he is incontinent and quite likely won't potty train any time soon.
I've read about lots of kids learning control at later ages but we're fairly certain he'll be cathing and learning social bowel continence. One can certainly hope for the best though. I think Fei felt we hadn't been doing the potty training right with Luk so she gave it a try on the weekend. Three pairs of wet underwear in a half hour. She gave up when he peed in front of her while telling her he didn't have to go. Love it.

We took Fei to have a 3D imprint made of her mouth. She gets her braces in May. She isn't totally delighted. The ortho asked if she was excited and she grimaced. I asked if any one was ever excited about getting braces and he said "YES" and another girl there threw her hand up to let us know she was excited. Fei just sees torture. Today looked extremely uncomfortable. She was a great patient.

Luk climbed up in a chair and tried to sit like Dad with a magazine in the waiting room. He is sooo stinkin' cute.

I forgot to update about Jia's ears. She failed a hearing test at her kindergarten screening. She went to have a full test done last week and her hearing is fine. In the normal range. She has one flat ear drum but it isn't affecting her hearing. The lady there said it's just her personality to be so loud.

In other news. Eric is experiencing growing pains having Scott here. Scott is grumpy, frustrated, complaining a lot about everything. He wants everything his way and right away. He's mostly unhappy about less channels on tv. He remembers the digital box and loaded channels here and now he doesn't have as many channels so he thinks the tv is broken and has taken it apart three times. Eric has to keep hooking him back up. He also wants a cell phone. His isn't working and is too old anyways. He only wants a white flip phone and won't consider anything else. Did they ever make white flips? The last call was him upset because he couldn't get cash from a machine across town. Eric had to go get him and get the cash for him and show him again that his own bank is just down the street from his place. Scott bought a dresser that needed assembling but Eric ran out of time one evening because he needed to re-hook the tv and dvd player up so he went back the next day to finish the dresser and the screws were missing. Yup, took three visits to build one dresser. Some of it is funny for sure, and sad and frustrating. A friend said today that we're all just one small stroke away from where he is. Humbling. Still wish his kid had stepped up though.

Lili sees the head Dr. at her spine clinic next week at Queen Alexandra. Dr. Penny looks at her files and x-rays but we've never met him.

Lili and Fei are both working hard to get through grade 3 piano in June. A speedier process than usual. Kathy feels they're ready.

I've been working at getting my photos organized and saved properly. Big job. Finally feeling on track. Had to sort and save all since Luk came home. Phew. Plus my phone was full so really had to start getting it done. Still have five more months on the contract ;)

Another long day down.
