Jia's getting glasses too.

We were told last year she was near sighted and would need glasses in a year or so.  This hasn't sit right with me.  Jia sees quite well for distance but I've noticed more issues around reading.

So, she had an appointment with a new eye Dr. today.  Who ruled out near sighted right away.  Told me there was something wrong and just keep trying different tests.  She's actually a little far sighted but not enough to need a prescription and she is cross eyed.  I'd never heard of that as a diagnosis.  I asked "like strabismus?", no, actually cross eyed.  She has a prescription now to try and strengthen her eyes and she will need to see the pediatric specialist opthomologist that Kai just saw.  She is actually losing some of her vision ability with the new glasses but staightening her eyes is more important.  Wild.  Loved the new eye Dr.

She was thrilled to be getting glasses.  Go figure.  I got a couple calls and she picked her three pairs out without me.  Under 10mins. Two for one with transitions and then one free pair. Same deal and price as Kai. Kai was super excited to see the pictures of Jia with her new glasses on.  Lots of chatter.  He was just sooo happy for her.  She picked out the same pair as Kai, cute, but I talked her out of them.  Could just see them wearing the wrong pair.

A moho sleepover.

Eric started some cleaning. There is a long way to go but it's getting better. WiFi is weak out here.  The littles are so excited, I'm not sure how they will ever sleep.

Play Doh

A relaxing holiday Monday.  The littles all slept in until 9:30!!

So it was a slow morning.  Kai had a bath.  Jia set up play doh for all three of them.

Now we're waiting for another person to come and look at our trailer.  I hate selling stuff.

Eric has been working on the engine of the new moho today.  He's all black.  Still nothing done to the inside.  Jia is desperate to sleep in there.  But...ya. ..not clean enough for me yet.  I'm afraid of the used mattress.  That's all on me.  It smells fine and it looks new.  No marks or stains.  And this is why I like to RV and hate hotels ;)  We'll look into a mattress swap later but I'm pretty sure they're all different sizes. Sigh.

Motorhome is home.

We brought the new motorhome home on Friday afternoon. We haven't had time to play or clean in her yet.

Wizard of Oz

Lili has been in the Chalkboard theater group all year.  Doing the Wizard of Oz.  She had a few roles but her main role was Auntie Em.  Last night and this afternoon were their shows.  Fabulous.  Simply fabulous.

Not many chances for photos in the big theater. I did go early today to make sure I got a picture of our little Auntie Em.

Lili celebrated after the show with some of her friends at Menchies and then we met a few families at Boston Pizza to celebrate Willows Birthday.  Willow was in Chalkboard too, she played Glinda.  Funny thing was, rumor that Willow and Lili were going to Boston was spread and most of the senior kids ended up there along with with the teachers and some parents. There was singing galore and Lili and Willow got to enjoy the party.  It was a pretty cool party atmosphere in there.

We ended the night at our place, touring the rvs and visiting while the boys went to bed and the rest of the kids played. Jia was overjoyed to have May here.  Long day.  We're all thrilled that Chalkboard is over. Hoping for a quieter day tomorrow.

Fans!
They're making a heart. Such sweetness.

Ready, Set, Learn

The boys went to school today to see their kindergarten classroom and meet their teacher.  Fun, fun, fun.

They both really liked it there.  Luk understood what was happening.  Kai was maybe having more fun before I got there. Once I was there he just wanted to be with me.  Should have seen that coming.  He didn't fuss but politely told the teacher "no thankyou" to her request for him to sit.  Once I sat beside him he agreed to sit with the kids.

Both boys showed off their matching, counting, color and sorting skills.  Luk let them know he was all up on his letters.  Kai tried but the only letter he consistently gets right now is H. ;)

During music time Kai refused to stand up and do the actions. He preferred to stay sitting in the way. He just doesn't do silly. I was sitting with the principal and she wondered how long he would sit there like that, I told her likely until I go and get him.

Hard to take them seriously in those monkey hats.
What were the odds of a monkey theme for our monkey boys?

Kai's new glasses.

They came in a few days!

He sat good as gold for his fittings.

Too funny watching a kid who can see for the first time.  He was grinning and chattering.  He didn't trip or miss a curb on the way to the car and his eyes were darting all over the place.  During the car ride he was looking out the window and grinning.  Love.

I called Eric from the driveway so he could see the Transitions.  Jia and Luk came too.  Jia was taking pictures to celebrate his new glasses.  He's pretty proud of them.

He hasn't touched them yet.  Fingers crossed that seeing is better than breaking!

Kai's Bed

Every day when Kai gets up he destroys his bed.  Un-tucks the sheets and moves the blanket and pillow.  I used to go in and straighten the bed but I've given up he just won't leave it alone.  A couple weeks ago I took the top sheet off his bed because it's just annoying to remake the bed every night at bed time.  I also stopped tucking anything in.  Just put the pillow in place and throw the comforter over him.

This morning he moved everything except this time it looked tidy and was positioned at the end of the bed, the way the Chinese do it!!  Comforter folded and pillows stacked.  Leaving the mattress or grass mat open to dry.  We've all seen this in the photos from China.  It took until him getting it done properly and neatly this morning for me to 'get' what he's doing.

Piano Recital

Another one down.

Fei was a superstar.  Lili stumbled and had a hard time recovering.  First time ever.  She handled it with humor, told everyone there that she did know how to play the song better and she didn't know what happened.  We know what happened, she is eating and breathing chalkboard and the Wizard of Oz and she was two hours late for rehearsal.  As always, so proud of the girls.  Such grace and poise.

The Littles all sat so nicely for the whole thing.

Sunday morning.

We were expecting trucks at 8:30 to pick up the Chalkboard props but Kathy was here before 8.  She was that excited.  :)

They loaded six trucks and they're off at the theater now getting it all in and set up.  No clue how long Eric will be.  I'm hoping he remembers the big girls piano recital today.  Plus, he didn't get any coffee. That's not good. Everyone was super excited about Eric's creations.  I'm glad he's getting the appreciation and applause today.

So, Jia has been using my old phone. She's been pretty good with it.  She has mastered Netflix,  Shomi, YouTube, a ton of games and general Internet searches. She has settings mostly figured out. She has actually helped me a couple times showing me things my smartphone can do that I didn't know about.  She has even searched an answer to something that Eric and I were discussing once. She moans about needing WiFi.  She wants to text in the worst way.  I told her she could use her email that we set up a long time ago. Last night I cleared my email, contacts and files and added her email as the main contact for the phone.  She has no phone and can't text. The email was fun for a while but Gmail isn't instant and she was going nuts waiting for us to get her messages.

I asked Fei and she suggested Kik. Oh my. A little texting fool has been created.  She is having the time of her life. Kikking me and Fei non-stop. Too cute.  My phone is going to blow up with tons of emojis.  Perhaps this will help her spelling.

I sheepishly have to admit that I had to ask Jia how to screen shot this. In my defense, I don't normally need to do this.

Kids glasses for Kai.

Tough search, he needs kids glasses for the arm length but adult for face width. We ended up with three pairs. Two metal because they're easier to repair and one plastic because they were too cute.  Two of them with photo grey.  $339 total for all three.  Woop! Frames and lenses with a two year warranty.

He seemed to like the attention of one on one with both parents and he approved each pair. Also the lady helping us was a friend from school and she was thrilled to meet our #5.

Then as a total bonus I found the dream wish list dishes for the motorhome!  White enamel with a silver trim. Love.

Kai's pick, black with a yellow arm, plain lense.
These are my faves, they'll be too cute as sunglasses.
Navy blue metal with stripes down the arm. Eric's pic.

Kai's Eyes.

We all skipped out today.  Dropped the big girls at Uptown to shop and took the littles to Kai's eye appt. The specialist pediatric opthomologist doesn't feel there is anything connected to a syndrome going on. No night blindness. Kai is however quite near sighted. As we suspected. He has a prescription. I'm told we'll have a whole new kid once he can see.  Not sure about getting him to wear glasses and he breaks pretty much everything that is ever in his hands. He seems happy about getting glasses like Mom and Lili.  Shopping for spectacles tomorrow. Let's hope for sporty, very twisty ones! Jia knows she needs glasses soon and she isn't at all happy that Kai gets his first. Kai will have one more follow up test in a few months to rule out any syndrome issues.

In other Kai news...HE WAS DRY ALL DAY!! Oh please let this be the new normal.

Spaghetti Factory for dinner and a walk at the breakwater. Perfect night.

Picnic!
Rare treat for Luk to get to touch anything with a touch screen. Kai wasn't allowed to touch at all. We had to keep starting the movie over, the need to touch when told not too is just too much. For both of them.
He wasn't impressed with dilated eyes. He was pretty good but I did have to wrestle with him a bit at the end. He was glad to leave!
Poor Kai, he has a hard time in bright light and his eyes were still dilated.

What have we done?!

Our old moho went to the shop today to fix a broken marker light and it was parked by the new one.  OMG the new one is huge!!  I can not fathom how Eric is going to drive or park this one.

We have an appt. for next Friday to go over the new unit.  Today they were working on gas certification and the fridge wiring.  Tools and wires every where.  A bit scary.

Got to see it for the first time with the slide in and it was fine.  Totally usable.

So busy with school, homework, year end trips, chalkboard rehearsals, piano recital on Sunday and piano exam coming up and appointments that we can't even think about camping quiet yet.

Looking forward to finding our dining room again though.

Mother's Day

Low key day.  The littles let us sleep in.  Eric got up and changed butts and then they played in the toy room for another two hours!! Love. I haven't gone down to check the state of the room.  Tomorrow is soon enough for that.

Then I took the Littles to the Forest Museum for a picnic lunch.  The train is NOT losing it's appeal.  Big girls didn't want to come.

Came home to get Lili to Chalkboard and then came home and spent an hour and a half coloring with Luk.  Kai played in the toy room with Fei who was on the piano picking out '7 years' and Jia was with Eric, they scoured the trailer today.  It's ready to sell.  Have to take some indoor pictures still.

My friend came today with her family and test drove my motorhome. Totally mixed feelings between the moho here that I love and the new one coming in.  I came home just in time to see her drive my unit down the road.  Eric claims to have zero attachments to the rvs.  I'm working on it.

Mom and Dad are over for dinner, the boys are in bed, I have my new jammies on and we're having floats and cherries for snack any minute.  Cherries are hands down my favorite food.  It's all good here.

Cottonwood bubbles.
My MD carnation that Jia loved to death and we threw it away.
