New Years Plans

I showered and put on fresh jammies.  That's me ready for the whole event. Fancy because the top is black. Haha.  I'm boujee like that 🤪
Settled into my new puzzle from Lili and Fei. Eric was keeping me company while reading up on new furnaces.  Our fan motor is hooped.  We're on borrowed time. Likely it can be repaired but just in case preparing for worst case.  The tricky part is finding someone to work on a gas boiler for a hot water radiant system on the 1910 house.
Eric is making us a surf and turf feast tonight.  Lili made oreo cheesecake Truffles in white chocolate. They are REALLY good.  The funny part was watching Eric and Lili navigate using the food processor Mom gave us in her downsize.  It was a challenge but boy did it whip a package of cookies into powder in seconds.

We're planning to watch Peter Rabbit 2 with dinner.  Then after the boys head to bed the five of us will continue binging Locke & Key.  Certainly not eliciting the excitement of the previous years annual parties!  And this is scary, but, I'm starting to feel more comfortable in our hermit like existence.  What if I'm actually an introvert??!!

Lili and Fei's marks are all in.  Proud Mom bragging moment. Lili pulled in an A, three A- and a B.  Good job Lili.  She's moving into finance in term 4, finally finding an area she is enjoying.  Fei got a 4.05 GPA!!  Fabulous work on your 1st term Fei Fei!

Ok, thought I was turning 55, but NO, I'm 55 now, turning 56.  Yikes.  Also Betty White died today.  Eric ended up working all day so we skipped having him cook and picked up A & W.  Mozza burgers, poutine and rootbeer.  We did watch Peter Rabbit 2 and it was cute and full of laughs.  Kai thought it was a bit sad and had a good sob mid way.  How is everyone else's New Years Eve panning out?

We did the countdown at 9 and yelled out Jumangi instead of Happy New Year.  Kai made it to 9. Luk 9:30 and I made it to 10. We'll see how Eric and the girls make out.  Going to sleep to the sound of fireworks.  You can't quantify how much I hate fireworks.  Oh, and bcassessmant.ca has new 2022 assessments online and ours went up 43% versus the typical growth of 6%.  Can they do that?!

It's 11:38. Fireworks have gone on steady since 8:30.  What the actual frick?! Why are people celebrating?  Are they all really that bored? Just today I was frustrated listening to the boys release Bayblades for the 3000th time and I asked Eric what more can they possibly learn from this? Sort of thinking a bunch of men/boys are out playing with their stupid fireworks/Bayblades.  If only they were smart enough and considerate enough to coordinate and do it all at once.  Isabel and I have had more than ENOUGH. Looks like my community feels it's important for all of us to stay up late tonight.  I'm using my awake time to shop for acreages with no neighbors.

A miracle happened today.

I have been asking for gate alterations to keep teeny dogs in for 2 and half years.  It finally happened today!  So, so, so exciting.
Coco came out first.  She wasn't sure.
She couldn't plow through.  Too deep.  She needed Eric's paths.  I had to pick her up when she was stuck.
Sasha came out voluntarily.
Too cute.
My two were a bit leary of Poppy's puppy enthusiasm.
Lili and Fei got Finn's coat on and Eric brought him down the stairs. He was quite shocked.
Coco ran to let him know it was all ok.
Oh my gawd.  The little ghetto pimp coat.
How did we get so lucky?!
My pack.
He seemed happy I came out to play with him. The kids are all still a firm no thanks.
Poppy running free off leash.  She was leaping and bounding through the fresh snow.
Walter.
Coco hiding under Fei's car to get away from Isabel's exuberance.
Tasty.
She ran until she over did it.
Being elderly sucks. It was nice to watch her have so much fun for a little bit.

The days are blurring.

Between snow, cold and covid we're pretty house bound.  The days are blurring into each other.  Going to the vr place for Jia's birthday was the last fun thing on our calendar.  I prefer having things to look forward to.

We did get a call with a date for Luk's surgery. Jan 19. So that's a huge amount of stress to deal with and definitely not something we're looking forward to.  I'm stress eating. Luk doesn't seem too concerned yet.  We don't have any details yet.  I don't even have a clue how long we'll be at Children's.  It's hard to reach people during this dead week.  Sigh.  Children's was pretty awful covid wise during the summer, I can only imagine it's even worse now. Frankly I'm shocked that he's scheduled.  I assumed not being life threatening that it would be bumped.

Jia's 12th Birthday.

Happy 12th Birthday Jia!
Another sucky covid Birthday.  She didn't seem bothered.
We made the trek to Nanaimo to a VR place.
This was Lili's idea.  Turned out to be a fun afternoon.
We were all set up in our own rooms one by one.
Max and Jia LOVED the vr games. They're keen to head back.
There was one point I went to check on Eric and Kai but they had already left.  I peeked in on Lili and she was on her knees, crouched and hiding from Fei.  Haha. At the end I joined them in the shooting game where they just killed me repeatedly.  ?  Not sure how fun that part was.
Kai hated this experience.  A lot.  He couldn't manage any part of it. We got a refund ;)
Luk thought it was pretty cool.  He didn't link to any of us but played on his own for two full hours.
The roads were a mess.
Feast.
Her choice of dessert, chocolate ice cream.

Christmas

The tears stopped. Phew.  There was a brief second where he looked up and paid attention to Luk and saw he had an amazing HUGE box of Pokémon and started to cry.  So we quickly got Luk to locate the other box for Kai.
The puppies were both thrilled with the paper.  Even Finn played for an hour ripping bits off.
Starving University students, thrilled with a box of groceries.
A Genshin day :)

It's already lunch time.  Time to get round two of feeding everyone again after we get everything off the floor. Work, work, work.
Nachos for dinner. Yum.
I'm not sure what everyone else did for the afternoon, I had a long nap with the Chihuahuas.  After dinner we played a Disney trivia game in teams.  The game felt a bit overdone on rules but was ok once we got the hang of it.

Christmas Eve

He built the houses for the kids.
Forced fun.
At about this point Poppy pooped right beside us, Kai started crying and Jia got a sudden nosebleed.  Bahaha.  Of course.  Because we dared to try for a family photo. So chaos ensued.
While regrouping was happening we got some puppy pics.
By the time we all gathered for the group shot Kai had already taken his matched jammies off.

It was a low key day.  Max was over.  Eric picked up pizza. We watched Klause together. It was better than expected.
