I'm Up!!

Dr Bonnie says it's my turn for a vaccine!  Yippee.  Forward motion.  Hope for getting out of this damn pandemic.  Doing my part.  Had a friend ask why I was up, to clarify, I'm compromised with Crohns which is an auto immune disease.  Kai is also seriously compromised.  Malformed kidneys and liver amongst his other needs.  Wish he could vaccinate too.  Next best thing for him is for as many of us around him to be vaccinated.  I had no plans to request an appointment, I would have waited for my age slot with Eric.  Flagged with a letter is different, plus, likely no chance Eric would let me wait now.

Update...called this morning.  20 minutes on hold, easy peasy.  My appointment is April 20.  I dreamt last night I'd get an appointment today, same day as my root canal and that was a daunting prospect for the day.  Haha.  So, just the root canal for today :(

We're ready for Easter.

When Luk and I went out back to do our decorating we found the kitty boys on the couch.  It was pouring rain and they were nice and dry under the new roof.  It was pretty cool being out there in the pouring rain.  This is going to be a favorite hang out place for sure.  Eric and I bought green/retro indoor/outdoor carpet for the deck.  All three girls despise it. Seriously, despise. Unfortunately it's been cut and can't be returned.  We kind of like it.  Our age is showing again ;)  I've located a grey they will like better and we can move the green to the lower covered area under the work out equipment.  We'll see.

Luk and Kai helped me bring everything down today.  They did it one item by one item.  I could have found easier ways.  I mean, I did say if it was glass or breakable to carry it in one hand. They extrapolated that to mean every single item.  Terry cloth carrots, plastic eggs, metal and wood items.  So then it was about keeping them busy and keeping Kai moving. Kai was delighted to finally get to touch it all.  I sorted and culled months ago and got my six Easter boxes into one.  Now it's too heavy to take downstairs.  They were good sports about it.
Kai tried to take a taste of the plastic chocolate.  Haha.
The gazebo heater doesn't throw enough heat for me but it's a nice warm glow.
Fei got this picture of the girls watching me make lunch.
Friday night dinner out for me and my three guys.
Jia made a hat.
Saturday we got to go with Shannon and Ken to pick up Winnie.  Fun to get out.  Even got my fave salad at Montanas.
I've looked at hundreds and hundreds of motorhomes.  Ours is fabulous in many ways.  But it is old. The paint shows it's age. I am nervous to take it long haul.  It is weak on hills.  It needs fun things like a new radiator and possibly transmission if we were to take it out farther.  In the dream list this moho is a definite upgrade.  It is "the" motor and transmission Eric would most desire and it is the closest for interiors I've found for meeting our specific needs.
We crawled all over it. It has some deficits and many things we would definitely need to change.  Only two seatbelts.  Not solared.  Carpet has to go. Doesn't have a table for us.
No oven. Small pantry.  Tons and tons of storage but just not in the kitchen.  It's not perfect but possibly closer than most we've looked at.
The bathroom and bedroom are glorious. The kitchen is one if the best we've seen.
The motor sounded great.  This one is forcing us to consider and talk.  Is there any point in continuing to work on ours?  Do we move on now?
This one is a few feet too long with a whole extra office at the back, that we don't want and wouldn't use. Lots to ponder.  I just don't want to spend the money.
Then we looked at this one.
Guys...I WANT THIS ONE.  We need a lottery win.  This one is beyond my wildest dreams.  Life goals.

Walter Update

A different vet called yesterday.  He does have crystals in his urine.  His stomititis has moved to his bladder.  I had no idea that was a thing. Yikes.  Poor little boy.  A diet change for him and then the hard part, vet feels the auto immune flares are brought on by stress.  We have no clue how to alleviate stress for a cat.  Walter puts himself in the middle of ALL activity. They're suggesting anti anxiety meds or finding him a quieter home situation.  Walter is a BIG personality and a whole family favorite.  He's my guy.  I can not even begin to imagine rehoming him. I also can not stand the idea that he's in pain.

I've never met another soul with a stomititis cat.  1% of cats have his condition.  It's a colony disease.

Day by day.

In other news, Oliver is doing great.  Taking his meds like a champ and eating again.
The shed that was just moved is being repurposed into a carport for Mom.
Angel wings arrived in the mail for the tiny angels. They're a harness, leash set.
Blissfully enjoying some sun in her eyes.  We're not so sure this one should have angel wings.  Haha. Our little terror on the go.  I hope everyone knows I jest.  However, yesterday she chewed three corners on my tablet cover and decimated the charging cord.  My fault for leaving it on the bed. Mom...any chance you still have the charging cord from your dead Huawei tablet?  🤣
Porch parties continue as a thing.  Eric hasn't had time to set up the back deck.  On the weekend we bought carpet and an overhead gazebo heater for the new deck roof out there.

Puppy therapy.

I stopped to see Joanie for a visit on my way home today.  Got some bonus puppy therapy.  This is Coleman, he's 4 1/2 months old.  He is Sasha and Coco's nephew.  He is crazy sweet.  If only I could have ALL the puppies.

Snuffles

Coco has figured out how to ask for the snuffle mat.  She gets so excited when she finds a Cheerio that she flips it in the air, pounces on it and leaps about and Sasha eats it.  Sasha snuffles, finds and eats.
They're so cute.
Boy cat drama.  Oliver has been throwing up for several days.  He first threw up a whole hummingbird.  Then couldn't hold down his cat kibble.  I took him to the vet yesterday.  Worried he might be dehydrating or have an intestinal block.  We're still waiting for blood work results but the vet felt he likely had bad bird syndrome.  Yup, that's a thing.  Likely ate a bad bird.  Asophogus likely scratched.  He is on pain meds, inflammation support, anti nausea meds and something to increase his appetite.  He also came home with medicated wet food.  He was deemed very pretty, a super nice boy and crazy healthy.  I had considered giving him wet food during the vomiting so I was on the right track and ended up panicking.  In the news they've told us hummingbird feeders are dirty and it's making the birds sick.  So of course my panic was that Oliver had salmonella.  We also have someone marking with pee in the house.  We aren't sure who but are thinking possibly Walter.  His stomititis is acting up again and this could be connected.  So he went in yesterday too.  But his bladder was empty so both of them stayed in vet jail all day.  He was also declared beautiful and super friendly and very healthy and his mouth/stomitis looked OK.  Vet also said his pee looked perfect so he isn't anticipating anything showing up in the blood work.  So $560 dollars to find out they're both all good.  Head bonk.  We need a veterinarian in the family.  Trying to get a bowl to Oliver is tricky.  Jenny and Walter really think they should get a turn.
Esmei still can't resist getting in boxes.  Coco was super confused about this.

I got up at 5 on Sunday.  Had to book camping for the May long weekend at 7 and was anxious.  I was logged on.  Had already made a list of sites we fit in that were going to open up.  And seriously in 2 seconds they were taken.  Then I was knocked out.  Got back in.  Got a site I don't like in my cart and it crashed.  Got back in, nothing available.  Spent another hour plus looking for a site anywhere.  Nope.  I texted camping friends there was nothing and took myself back to bed.  Sigh.  Certainly zero point in upgrading our moho this year.  It's going to be tough finding spots as a whole and I wouldn't be looking to travel around BC this summer without reservations.  I finally went back into the site a while later and booked a weekend at Goldstream.  Four days after a previous camping trip to Miracle Beach.  I prefer to space them so we alternate camping weekends with home weekends.  But this is clearly going to be a different kind of year.  Grateful to have a spot at all I guess.  It was definitely a down day of sadness for me.  Girls were sleeping in, boys didn't want to go anywhere.  Eric took me to Chemainus for pie.  We tried banofee pie.  Caramel with fresh banana layered and topped with whip cream and chocolate sprinkles.  This one is worth the drive ;)  We were politely sharing our piece of pie bite for bite but I'm pretty sure we both wanted to grab it away from the other and have it all.  Haha. Then we picked up lunch and ate at the water.  We came home and an old friend dropped by so we had an hours long catch up so that was nice to help move me out of my funk.

My flex day was busy.  Lots of errands.  Finally got in the bank to open an account for Kai.  Made an appointment for mid April to find out how "we're richer than we think".  Retirement planning.  How can we be at that age to be thinking about this?!

Fei got two acceptances to University. For both of her back up plans.  I don't love how VIU handles this part.  Both girls move out in five months.  The count down is on.  I'm already sad about it and excited for them at the same time.

Gelato!

Albi is out and about for the season again!  :)  I should have filmed Kai when Luk shouted out "GELATO".  He came upstairs on a tear.  Hillarious.
Pure joy.
Rosie and May adorable together in matching coats.
Getting ready for Graduation.  Please Dr. Bonnie let us have celebrations for our grads this June.
We got to go with Shannon and Ken today to look at another motorhome in Parksville.  They made a deal on a Winnebago today!  So exciting to be able to camp with them again this summer.  It's a seriously nice unit.
Our moho is looking really old and tired next to all the newness around us.  I keep looking online.  Then giving up and settling down. This moho was listed right under the ad for Shannon and Ken's unit.  It interested me enough to go peek. It didn't disappoint.  I expected Eric to find things wrong with it but he didn't.  So, we're not really looking and not really in the market but it's pretty spectacular.  It offers a definite upgrade but it isn't solared and it isn't equipped with things like Chihuahua ramps.  Once we were home Eric found one very similar in price/age in Millbay.  I had already looked at it and was told it had sold.  The lots are scary empty.  Not encouraging things coming from the salesman.  During covid we're all trying to camp.  Definitely makes me feel anxious about getting spots this year.

My Crazy Guy

He picked up wood from work today and some clear patio roofing.  He cooked, ate and skedaddled outside with his new project  :)
I'm watching the deck roof happen in one night while I watch TV.
This will be life altering.  It will be sooo nice to have the cushions stay dry this year!
Fei got this picture.  So sweet together.

I didn't have any great fun spring break ideas for today so an impromptu dance party in the kitchen tonight.  Kai loved it.  Luk declined.  Jia came down and grudgingly joined me for a minute.  Now I have to pester Luk until he dances with me.  Next try tomorrow morning.  Haha.
Boom.  Done, just like that.  Put up in one night.  1st time I've seen him build anything outside in the dark.
My thought was for the frame work to be white but perhaps the trim color would be better.  We've discussed this roof many, many times.  I've tried to explain what I wanted.  Eric has tried to tell me his ideas.  I finally sent an example picture yesterday and wala, he built it almost identical to the example :)

Spring Break

Jia is trying to earn $51 to buy a cosplay wig/costume set.  Having to get creative.  She earned a dollar a face.  She's up to 40 in assorted chores.  Tomorrow Eric has offered her some work stacking firewood.
Our plan was for at least one fun thing a day during spring break.  Hard when I'm at work and Eric is too busy to stop. Today Jia's face painting counted as the fun thing.

Nightly porch parties are a thing now ;)
Spinosaurus.
Hiding.
Two nights in a row Coco got herself onto the shelf, but she is terrified to get down.
