Day Trip

We are exploring communities for future retirement.  That is NOT happening today.  More like wishful planning.  We would like a quieter and smaller community. Definitely more central Island. Today we explored Port Alberni.  We stopped at Coombs on the way.  Shopped the fresh market and enjoyed some perfect nectarines. Yum.
Then enjoyed some specialty donuts. Yum.
So many lakes and rivers and the inlet of course.  So much to explore.  Only one hour out of Nanimo.  There was lots there we liked for sure.
The town is sprawling.
Lots of views.
Not enough parking. Could possibly use the whole front yard and there is a lane at the back.  The view though.  But again...we're NOT moving today.
We stopped to play at a park across the street from a house we did a drive by on.  How fun would a park in the front yard be?!
I flagged a few houses to drive by.  The kids were all excited about this one online. Looks like the house from Father of the Bride. Great neighborhood.  Close to town. Has a spectacular kitchen. Ticks all the boxes.  But is a corner lot, roads on two sides and a lane at the back.  Perhaps a bit too busy.  Plus...we are NOT moving today.  Just wanted a feel for the area and neighborhoods.
Look what we found for lunch!!  Boys could have cared less.  We were actually looking to try a Chinese restaurant when we found the drive in.  I squealed in excitement.  So Eric just pulled in.
So fun!  Food was really good.  Possibly worth the drive.  I would go again, especially for the onion rings. We all had a different burger and they were all awesome.
So I was woken up by Lili at 7.  She had a campsite in the virtual cart and we had nine minutes left to book it.  Haha.  I really appreciate the help finding a site!  Since we were so close we went to check it out.
Eric had to get out and measure.  It will be tight but it will just work, we think.  5 days to explore the area more in Aug.
Saturday night we went to the drive in to see Cruella.  Mary and family were here so we did a girl night in the van.
I made candy bags and there was quite the bidding war going on.  The clear highly coveted item was Reese.  Too funny.
