Jia's New Floor

The original wood floor in Jia's room needs to be refinished. The old finish is sticky. It hasn't been much of a problem because she didn't sleep in there. Mostly the room held her things. She moved into her room a few weeks ago! She is doing great and we're all proud of her. Isabel moved in with her and there is the problem. Fur, dog blankets plus sticky floor. Yuk. There is never a good time to strip and refinish around here. So stinky. We decided to lay laminate instead. Shopped Home Depot and looked at all the options. Left a bit shocked at the price. Went to Walmart for cat food and bought laminate there for half price of the cheap stuff at Home Depot. It even has the backing already on it. Not much of choice...dark or light. Jia picked honey maple. It's lovely. Eric put it in yesterday with Jia's help. He was on the calculator last night figuring out how many stairs he did. Still need to do new trim but that can wait for another day. I found pink Scooby-Doo sheets about year ago at the thrift shop. Jia knew she could only have them if she slept in her own bed. So it was a pretty big deal yesterday to finally get her new sheets! Lili read her bed time story too. Not something that would normally happen ;)

Lili and Fei danced at the Crofton Mothers Day tea. Which took the bulk of the day. Food was awful so we came home and ate early dinner at 3:30. Then enjoyed hours of playing in the back yard. Except Lili who did homework instead of playing. She did admit to enjoying being with us while working. Luk learned how to do a bum drop on the trampoline (or the Jumpoline as it is called here). He doesn't bounce back to his feet. Just drops to his bum. Love it.

Such concentration figuring out how the robot works. Girls would have all put it down and walked away. Luk studied it intently for half an hour.
