Eric took Kai to an eye appt. with a specialist today. One we've been waiting over a year for. He did great. There is deterioration in his right eye. We need proof of his vision problems to access services. Oy. You only need a few minutes with him to see that he can't see.
The big girls went to meet up with friends at Uptown.
Eric took the boys for a play at Beacon Hill. Pictures look like they had a good time.
Jia came to work with me. Partly to relieve Eric's day and so that he had two extra seats to pick up the big girls.
We all made it home at the same time. I was hoping to put together costumes for a children's parade on Sat. Eric went downstairs to turn on the tv for Kai and started yelling. Whole basement flooded. He had to open the apartment door to let the water out!
Hot water tank. Seriously has to be a better system than this. It's shocking how much water there is.
Kids have no clue. NO CLUE. They weren't reading the situation. I asked Fei to turn the living room tv on for the boys to get them out of the way. Battery was dead in the remote. She gave up. Arg. Really had to push for help.
Tried to call insurance, house phones all dead. Went back to helping Eric. Lili was fussing about what dress to wear to a party. Jia was hungry. At least the boys stayed out of the way.
At one point the front door was left open by a big kid. Panic set in while we checked the where abouts of all three dogs and Esmei.
Dishes were piled up. No water. Eric hauled in all the bedding from the moho, plus the clothes. The pile of laundry is giant. No water.
I took Lili to her party and picked up pizza for the other four kids. Went back to working in chaos. Culling and sorting. Might as well do a major purge. So there are three piles, garbage, donate and keep. Waded through toys. Photos are all upstairs. Sorted all of my old office/desk. Found the seasons paintings I bought on Lili's adoption trip. They've been missing for 14 years.
There is still SOOO much to do.
I have no idea how extensive this will be. It's looking pretty major.
Never a full moment around here. I don't think I'll pull it together for the parade. I did boil water and get the kitchen clean.
What a day. Hopefully I'll get some sleep before work tomorrow.
