Monster Trucks

We're camping this weekend.  And Monster Trucks were at Western Speedway.  So we took off for the day to go. It was a great adventure day.  We slept in, even the boys!  Late breakfast at 10:30. Then weren't ready for lunch so decided on a late lunch on the way.  Lessening the need for a big dinner at the track.  So we stopped at the Malahat Chalet but the power went out and they couldn't serve us.  Disappointed.  Then we went to a favorite Chinese buffet and they were closed.  Finally onto Boston Pizza where there were favorite dishes for some and more importantly mini fidget spinners that work better than any other spinner for $2.

Then to the track.  Got in on a family pass.  Kids have never been there for any event.  Not a wheelchair friendly place.  We had a place in the shade.  It was all good.  We had no interest in the local racing but we were all amused by it.  Lots of great people watching.  Surprisingly the most excited kid there was Jia!  We all loved watching the Monster Trucks when they finally came out.  There was a fan section of time so the kids and Eric got to go get close.  I held our spots. Then they announced Monster Truck rides for $10 each.  I called Fei and pushed for them to do it.  I thought Fei and Lili but all 6 of them lined up and they all went in the same truck!  Wild.  They all loved it.  A lot.  So cool.

When the trucks were climbing and jumping over the other cars Kai was beside himself.  Should have been taking pictures of him!  At one point he wrapped around my arm and I heard him kiss my arm!  His first voluntary kiss!  So sweet. I turned to look at him and he shyly turned away.  Love.

Stopped at the Honeymoon Bay market.
Cutest little market ever.
Jia is the only one who hasn't been to the Malahat Chalet.  So close.  She was happy to have at least seen the view.
Even the big kids got a spinner.
