Day2

Long day, fairly uneventful.   Started at 8:45 and drove until 9.  Made it to Coalinga.  Two to three hours left to go tomorrow.
Luke was great today.  He's quite happy to watch movies all day.  Jia slept most of the day and has stopped asking so many questions.  Big girls travel as well as always.

I have a cold.  It's hit hard and fast.  My whole head hurts.  I also slept a lot today.  Mr. Eric is doing a fabulous job of driving.  I don't know how he does it.

Day 1 night antics.

I just woke up to check on everyone and use the bathroom.  Found Jia asleep in the tub.  ?  I moved her to a more comfy spot.  The Littles are too funny.

Day 1

We're settled into a hotel.  Sigh.  So we're done with day 1.

I was up at 5, on the road by 7.  Coho at 10:30.  Arrived Port Angeles at 12.  Drove the 101 for the first time.  Twisty,  single lane and slow but truly beautiful.  We want to go back to explore the Olympia National Park another day.  Looks like a nice short motor home trip.

Luk has a runny nose and no skills for dealing with it.  Ugh.  He's out of sorts and swinging through the emotions.  Verge of tears a lot of the time.

Jia is doing ok although she did ask repeatedly ALL day if we were at Disneyland yet.  Any ideas on how to get her to stop asking?  Dog with a bone.

So we made it to Cottage Grove.  Eric was prepared to drive further but I saw a Comfort Inn and asked to stop.  We had a semi swerve in front of us.  When Eric passed him I could see that the driver was asleep.  With his head down and bobbing.  I had asked E not to pass him when he was swerving but he did anyways.  Grrr. So once I saw that he really was sleeping I had a good cry.  Hence the stopping for the night.  It was only 8:30.

Then of course, no rooms with three beds.  Luk is sleeping in chairs shoved together.  I've got two kids and Eric has one.  It's a bit squishy for me but the room is clean, we've all had a snack.  Luk fell asleep immediately.  Jia is on her leap pad.  The rest of us are all enjoying the free WiFi.

I think we're all ready for a good sleep.  Biscuits and gravy for breakfast tomorrow.

Award Winners

Just found out that Lili and Fei both won awards at Music Festival.  Also that the adjudicator picked both of them to perform in the Gala show!  What a great honor.  Sadly we're away.

I wonder if hearing how great they did will improve their opinion of the process.  I'm feeling pretty proud and am less focused on how long and boring the process was ;)

I've tried to figure a way to move the holiday around so that we could stay and they could do the show on Sunday.  Everything is movable except the house sitter.  Drat.  Trying to let it go now.

Music Festival

I don't have time to be bored.  We don't allow the kids to use the word bored, ever.  I'm using it in regards to music festival.  Who on earth set this system up?  I'm super bored.  I did use my time to blog the weekend.  In part I'm likely anxious to get out of here.  Four days left before holidays and we have lots to do.

My Mom has volunteered to bring Fei here for the afternoon.  Thank you Mom.   Greatly appreciated.  I'm feeling guilt about not coming with Fei on the other hand this is super boring and slow and dry.  Painful.

Oh, and we got word that Scott is moving out of the hospital on April 1.  Yay.  Finally.  Thankfully we'll be here to help him get into a new routine.   The hospital staff keep telling us he is good to take care of himself but we aren't so sure.  They told us he could read but on Saturday he was pretty clear that he can't.  At this point we're all happy to get him away from where he is.  The assisted living place he is going to isn't connected to viha.

Eric is taking the Littles to see Mike the Knight tonight and it's Miss Lacie's 11th Birthday today.

That's all my random thoughts for the moment.

Miss Fei's 12th Birthday

We had a full day.  Hanna spent the night.  We were up early so we could have our fancy breakfast before meeting with two other families at a studio to paint clay sheep.  We started with strawberry shortcake and then had french toast.  Fei's choice.

The painting was nice.  Mostly relaxed.  Jia was there with May so there was some excitement and merriment ;)  I was quite pleased with how my sheep turned out.  Will be nice to get the Little People sheep off my mantle.  We're still needing a better horse and tiger.  Finally getting there with our Zodiac animal display.  Oh, and our rabbit is truly lovely but it has a big pink bow and since Luk is a rabbit I think we need to keep searching or consider painting the statue.

Next we went to Subway for lunch and picked up an ice cream cake from Dairy Queen.

Then Lili was in the Music Festival.  So we spent hours at the Fire hall.   Oh my gosh.  Hours we can't get back.  We were all shocked at how long we were there. She got a gold/first and a silver/second place.  We're not excited about the process, we'll see how it goes on Monday.   Right now the kids are thinking this will their first and last year of Music Festival.

Gramma and Grampa came for a short visit.  Eric made Fei butter shrimp and butter chicken for some of us.  Dinner was fabulous.

Very busy weekend!  I was sure happy to get to bed.  Jia and I were asleep by 9.

We have two 12 year olds in the house!
