Day 1 - words

The Panorama is newish, it's the biggest line in the Carnival fleet. We've certainly never been on such a big boat. It's really pretty. We're all loving the ship.

We boarded and settled on the lido deck in the sun. Five of us had a guy burger, seriously the best burger ever. Lili and Fei had tacos. We were into our rooms by 1:30. We all unpacked. Then to the muster station. Safety drill. Then to guest services to switch Eric and Jia's keys/cards. We figured out our bubble cards and then settled in the atrium with cold drinks to enjoy the live music and figure out our wifi. Thankfully Lili and Fei largely took over. We can't get wifi calling to work but we have wifi. Then we were working to figure out how to reach each other. Lots of complications. Lili, Jia, Eric and I using whatsapp, Luk, Jia and I on Discord, Fei using messenger. Haha. We'll see what we can fix tomorrow. Now, this was gobsmacking nuts. We couldn't get Kai wifi because we couldn't load the Carnival app without playstore. Yup, he disabled his freaking software AGAIN. Lili says he's into hard-core details. We ended up taking the phone back to factory, so he has wifi but NO apps or games. I'll find time tomorrow to set him up again. So we couldn't load the app and his phone was almost dead. Back to the room in a rush while we were still docked to use data on mine to make a Hotspot to load on his. It was a bit nuts and Lili took over. Then we made sure Jessica could reach me on messenger. Then
made sure Mom could too. A wee chat with Mom. Back to the atrium for some violin music. We got the boys registered in Camp Pcean. They're sharks. We were given a special needs phone for Kai. Who let them all know what level he was at in the meeting. The girl doing the intake asked if he could sign himself out. I looked at her in extreme alarm. Good heavens NO, he has the safety and awareness of a two year old. She reassured me they won't let him out.

We ate dinner together in the dining room. Love. The food was awesome. All of the kids enjoyed the fancy experience and were all excited and keen to try new things. Kai was playing with cars that were landing in things. There was a pretty good kafufle when Kai was bleeding, he lost a tooth and ate it. Again. Then when he was eating he kept thinking it was his tooth and was spitting into Eric's hands. Then he fell asleep at the table.
Lili said at that point that her and Fei have been distanced from Kai but these last few days have made them quite aware of the parenting hurdles we're going through. Uh, ya. Just a few.

I said Kai was a little intense, Jia quickly said "extremely intense". We're all excited to have him in camp for a bit tomorrow, a small break will help.

After dinner we dropped the boys in their camp. Took Jia to register in her Circle C camp. The rest of us went to Punchliners. Then backtracked to get the boys. A ton of walking. Lots of time pondering maps and some hilarity figuring out 'smart elevators'. Menus are on our phones. Table reservations are online. There is mass confusion everywhere. Lili is on it, has mastered the app and is quietly showing us all stuff bit by bit. She says she hates teaching but she's really good at it.

It's so sad reading about the flooding at home. Definitely sounds like we're away at the best time possible.

Tomorrow there is a sea day special Christmas brunch. The boys would rather
go to kids camp so it's looking like the four adults will get to go and have a relaxing time.

Jia had fear and doubt about being left alone in her camp but she went. An hour later she sent a message that she was having fun, she had new friends and could she stay until midnight. Wow. Love it. Lili and Fei offered to go get her for us. She can sign herself out but doesn't know her way around the ship yet. Then Eric got her a pizza for snack in their room later.

We managed a lot today. I always think we're going to relax and then we get crazy busy on the ship.

Kai is snoring. Luk has just had a bath because the new sneakers have given him foot rot. I'm not sure if we should trying to wash his seriously only worn for a few days runners or toss then but he only has holeys here. Have I mentioned the pain of boy shoes before.

Merry Christmas Eve everyone.
