Day 2

Early start.  We were there at 7:30. Usually you can check in, fill in forms and get a room assignment before clinic starts at 8.  The check in person didn't show up today.  So we didn't really start until 9. We started with a new to us pediatrician.  She asked about concerns, I mentioned Luk's processing time to speak words was getting longer.  We confirmed he's been tested for ADD.  She asked a few questions and she is now referring him for an autism assessment.  I didn't see it coming.  He did answer correctly for himself.  The Dr. was quite concerned about what my reaction would be.  Haha.  My laugh may have been a bit maniacle.  What are the chances we could have 4 spectrum kids out of 5?
Jia had to figure out how the toy toaster worked then loudly played with the bead thingy. I'm not sure how much help she is but she definitely keeps Luk entertained.

Luk's mobility is horrendous.  He needs help to walk and we're using the chair as much as possible.  His ankles are hurting since the casts came off.

Leg braces tomorrow that might help or make it worse.

We went tor lunch at Dennys.  Eggs benny are on sale 2 for 1.  Luk requested a donut for snack and a chocolate chill.  When we were at Tims a man asked "what's wrong with his leg?".  I said Spina Bifida.  This didn't work.  He had his sage advise.  Apparently Luk needs bigger, flatter shoes. He is wearing skater hightops (flat) that are two sizes too big already. Sheesh.  He kept going. Sort of lecturing.  Thinks Luk needs leg braces. Yup. Luk was uncomfortable.  Jia looked scared.  I of course was mildly amused and wondering where the rude man fit into the spectrum.  I did assure him Luk was being looked after by Children's.  He left shaking his head at my obvious lack of care.

The neurologist moved us back to once a year!  Yay.  The urologist has us set up to learn cathing in June.  The nurse is setting up the funding and arranging for supplies.  We see the orthopedic surgeon same trip as the cathing.  She isn't very optimistic the leg braces will work and feels we're headed to surgery.  Which none of us want so we have to be serious about getting Luk to keep the braces on.  20 hours a day. If they don't give us the stretch he needs and he has surgery he will still need to wear casts and the braces afterwards.

We did get to skip a few appointments and leave at noon.  Pt, Ot, health nurse and social worker.

The kids are tired.  Beautiful weather out and they preferred to come back to the hotel.  Sigh.
Eric sent me this picture of Kai with his snack last night.  Too funny.  He didn't eat it all.  He doesn't love crunchy hard to eat food.

On another note from home.  Eric was batch cooking Isabel's food and it smelled so good he and Kai had it for lunch.  Haha.
